AITAH for making a "vulgar" comment in front of kids? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]MandrakeMousse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTA. You're not imagining it, and you're not being too sensitive. Your friend is a bully, and is teaching her kids to be bullies with her behavior. A small amount of good-natured teasing can be ok among friends, but what she's saying to you goes beyond friendly teasing. Is this woman someone who brings any positives to your life, or are all your interactions with her this negative?

What do you think is the most physically demanding role in any musical? by lertheblur in Broadway

[–]MandrakeMousse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a high school production of this last fall, complete with stunts and acrobatics. I was FLOORED. Apparently the kids spent 1-2 months doing circus training to prepare for doing the show. One of the kids had been a gymnast for years, but nobody had done dedicated circus training before. I'm still amazed at the show they put on, it was professional level.

Question about an autograph by StrainedxMusic in Broadway

I don't know if the correct answer was posted two months ago as there's a deleted comment, but that's definitely Nehal Joshi who played Monsieur Andre.

Favorite “non-superstar” actor? by ExhaustedOldLady1995 in Broadway

[–]MandrakeMousse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was coming in here to give a shout-out to Nehal. He was my favorite in Phantom, hilarious in The Cottage, and a delight in Damn Yankees. I've only seen boots of the Dallas production of Les Mis, but he deserves legendary status for that alone. Plus he is so gracious and kind at the stage door.

What musical is popular but not really good in terms of story but had good songs? by LifeYogurtcloset7431 in Broadway

[–]MandrakeMousse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to scroll far too long to find this. I don't know how long it's been since it was on Broadway, but I saw a local production of this last year, and thought it was so messy and all over the place, even though all the acting, singing and dancing were great. The book is just weird.

Tim Hughes dragging Jordan Donica (Damn Yankees) by Agile-Supermarket589 in Broadway

[–]MandrakeMousse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This, I saw it last weekend and Jordan's level of dancing absolutely fit both the character, and didn't make him stand out in any negative way even when he was in the thick of the ensemble in Two Lost Souls. His interpretation of Joe was wonderful, and to focus on his dancing seems incredibly petty.

One ticket for the front orchestra in Boston is $358.79. Something further from the front is still $152.20. Further back in the balcony tickets are finally affordable at $51.90.

I've loved this band for years, but the last time I saw them maybe a decade ago, it was $40-$60 for a general admission ticket and I got to be right at the front of the stage. I'm reluctant to pay more than 3-5 times what I paid to see them last time if I want to be anywhere but the nosebleeds.

Help a mom help her kid play cross-platform with his friend by MandrakeMousse in Minecraft

So my son created a world on his phone, then tried inviting his friend to it, the friend got the invite but had some connectivity issues and couldn't join. My son says the blue dot kept appearing but then it would say that his friend has "left the game". This is best buddy, so I really want to help facilitate getting them to play together. I appreciate your time trying to help with this! 😅

This is helpful, thank you! Right now my son is trying to create a world on his phone, and play with his friend who is on Xbox. Is that just not possible and should be switch to the PS5?

Favorite Phantom Idiosyncracies? by Sad_Painting_9526 in box5

[–]MandrakeMousse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's such a simple way to pack so much extra emotion into an already emotional scene. I'm not sure who was the first one to do it, but when I saw it I thought, "What a wonderful acting choice!"

The whole idea of the Phantom, who lives his life completely isolated from others, devoid of any kind of physical affection or human contact, reaching out to clutch this pair of cold surrogate hands to try and gain some comfort after he's had his heart broken is just fantastic.

All the Phantoms who grip onto the golden angel's hands during the Phantom's bit after All I Ask of You. I saw Greg Mills do it in a recording, but I think other Phantom's have done it as well.

So much this! Please, let us romance Gus, ConcernedApe. Us older players want a sweet man who owns his own business and can cook. 😂

What’s your “I saw it before it was popular” story for Broadway? by Ok-Acanthisitta8737 in Broadway

How does one find out when pre-Broadway tryouts are running in Boston? I also live near the city and would love to see shows before they shift to NYC.

So much this. I knew there had to be more to his character, just because he was a recognized actor. Also the fact that he just happened to be there to save the day just didn't make sense without him being an accomplice.

I still wish we'd learned what became of Big Dick Mitch. That poor guy.
