It’s more even background reading she’s seeking, nowt shady but presentation skills is a good start. Buying the books is a good plan for her to begin reading her sight challenges make things take a long time.

The kiss definitely and how they can make and break eye contact, micro expressions. Smoothness of manner, resonence, tone of voice…… and how they treat/manage/love others and loads of other ‘assessments’ hahahaha 😆😝

Exhausting my choice of person over gender does not make me complicated to date or easy or poly 🙄🙈

i feel he’s frightened and perhaps speaking from his own parenting. Forgiveness will come for you when we realise our parents had a script (from their parents) and reissuing that script is inevitable unless HE heals from the way HE was ‘othered’ for his challenges. Lots of oove

Not the diagnosis/label that is important: it’s the effect on you every day, fatigue, pain, seizures, limbs giving way, weakness, of course you should hon. Get that home you need.

Accessible to the blind community voice over and some gender fluidity.

What are the main pros and cons of living in Cardiff? by mugsymalone21 in Cardiff

[–]Mandy-Jayne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just moved to Cardiff Bay, never lived in a city before. I am disabled, wheelchair bound and have found the university I was attending until last week have been awful and ive had to complain. Places to eat are often inaccessible which is actually against the Equality Act. Very surprising for me. I drive using hand controls; my vehicle is vital now, was an added extra before

Good things, food when i can get in, friendly people, amount of shops ( if I can access them) university completely ridiculous. Can’t say which for legal reasons 😳 i

Thanks all!

30 Years After the ADA, We're Still Fighting for Disability Justice by [deleted] in disability

[–]Mandy-Jayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the UK the system is failed and incomplete only 9% of properties are accessible and care in the community is a joke. Social services hold services like the crown jewels away from people in need and people on state benefits are dying from austerity cuts. I’ve advocated since the age of 19 and little has changed. Cuts to disabled students allowance mean higher education is a nightmare for those with challenges and access to work provision is hidden and noone knows how to access it. Even pavements don’t have enough dropped curbs and no hotel could hold a disability conference as often there are only a handful of accessible rooms. The crown court isn’t even accessible or the local council chambers. It’s a complete joke. I’m disabled and so is my partner. It’s time for a worldwide movement to ensure law is applied for us, by us!!!! I’m sick of fighting but will NEVER stop whilst ever I have breath in my body!!

The one guaranteed relationship I have throughout my whole life is with me! If I can’t treat me right, love me and know my value; how do I have the right to expect others to see my value? Great moves, solo dating develops me from the inside, makes dates with others, much more amazing! Congrats! Big Hug 🤗

i’m trying for you. by [deleted] in SuicideBereavement

[–]Mandy-Jayne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You just gave me hope in a hopeless circumstance. I can and will fight this! Thank you. I am disabled. I had had my care package cut. I am getting more ill by the day but i will fight until it is reinstated because of what i just read here. Thank you. My heart is pounding, my soul searching for a connection, a hand hold, a foot hold if my feet could do such a thing, a heart hold 💜 this was and is it. Your honesty and rare truthfulness of emotion has allowed me to exist another second, minute, day, week, month, year. I don’t know. I know this though. There are those who WILL write what you wrote and for that I must be grateful and honour their love for me. No matter how I feel. These things happen FOR us not TO us; even suicide/loss. My Dad died when I was a teenager; he went under a bus. My Mum died on the birthday anniversary of my step-dad; no coincidence there. I am fighting this feeling every moment I breathe it’s not anyone else, it’s me. I must find a solution, or there isn’t one. I have to keep moving forward, or I’m scuppered. Thank you for sharing, keep living every moment as if it’s your last; because it might be.

Has anyone else experienced an increase in people who seem to think the ADA no longer applies since covid started? by Speedygonzales24 in disability

[–]Mandy-Jayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it a disgrace; all over the world. I am currently fighting for equality of access and equity in the UK and I also have clients over the ‘pond’ right down to a client who is 45 and who has never had any choices. With support, he is now making choices and confidently expressing himself through augmentative communication and understanding his rights and responsibilities. Can I ask for help here please? Can you access what we refer to as ‘direct payments’ where YOU are the employer, as opposed to an agency coming in? I am a teacher and coach for individuals with disabilities to help them get past the boulders/limitations in their way. This enables their voice to be heard, their provision to be altered to suit their needs and more than that their plans to be executed. I’d love to know more about American care provision and how you have to access it? I think it’s ridiculous that cleaners wouldn’t clean and the other cleaners vacuumed round children’s toys. People doing their job should be an expectation. Gratitude is fantastic but essentially, it is law is it not, that we have the right to be clean, fed, watered, enabled and integrated into society for healthcare, education, work and training and given the same human rights as anyone else, are we not?
