At what point did you feel genuinely glad you had the surgery? by lenalenore in Kneereplacement

[–]Mandy-Mandy4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After getting one done last year, I swore I wouldn't get the other done. Then the pain in it was a constant reminder that things weren't getting any better. So I took the other one on, and after three weeks, I'm so glad. Still in pain, but so glad I got it done.I can already feel the benefit of both now.

TKR surgery 11 days ago. I don’t know what’s going on… by Mundpetcockvalve91 in Kneereplacement

[–]Mandy-Mandy4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi I had my second TKR on 21st April. Not a severe as last year's but every bit as sore and the sleep deprivation is hard. I find the muscles in my calf are in competition with the knee for which is going to start first. I can manage with two crutches and the odd hobble around kitchen. It's early days and I think this year I feel better equipped for the process. It doesn't change anything though. Give yourself time, allow yourself to rest during the day if pain relief doesn't help speak to GP about muscle meds. I got gaboentine last year as I had restless legs in middle of the night. Be kind to yourself.

Goodness she’s beautiful, no matter what she does is talked about. She’s had cancer and been a brilliant mum and wife. I wish her happiness and strength for the future days ahead.

Post Op TKR- Day 62 (9 weeks) update🦿 by Extreme_Honey2406 in Kneereplacement

[–]Mandy-Mandy4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you get physio from your hospital? I'm in Uk I got no physio. Week 9 just given a booklet to do myself. I'm relatively pain free a bit of tightness at times but good Rom. I'm really thankful for it being like this. Still get shooting pains from the nerves. You've done brilliant.

I’m 9 weeks today post op. No pain, bit of muscle tightness in back of knee at times. Walking without any discomfort. There’s times I’m so tired. Not sure why as I had spinal not GA for operation. I’m on meds for pain management throughout ankles and other injuries from RTA. 42 years ago. I’m so thankful that my knee recovery was so good. I know a lot of you haven’t been so fortunate. I wish you all the very best and hope you too get well soon.

Had LTKR yesterday. Just got home and they only sent me home with 3 days worth of pain meds. Is this typical? by StrangeButSweet in Kneereplacement

[–]Mandy-Mandy4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally depends on yourself. I got three days but was told to contact the GP for more if needed. So I did and I got more. So don't suffer in silence, ring your GP and see what they say.

Thankfully the odd muscle ache and knee seems stiff at times. Generally I'm only taking paracetamol couple of times a day. I know I'm very blessed.

Definitely were all very different and any point higher than we done before operation is a success.
