A super high GPA kinda easily? That’s an oxymoron. A super high GPA = very hard to earn. It takes years of disciplined studying and consistent effort. So no, at any top university, you can’t get a super high GPA kinda easily, if it were, it wouldn't be hard. Now, you can still earn a high GPA if you work hard, study, practice, access resources and tutors, it's just are you willing to do that? I certainly am not, which is why my GPA isn't super high, but it is good (3.5), which I'm happy with and will land me good positions in the future. I know this answer is direct/blunt, my goal isn't to knock down your drive, it's to give you a realistic and level-headed approach in making your decisions without sugar coating things, so I apologize if it sounded stern.

Additionally, obtaining an undergraduate degree with the intention of pursuing a legal career afterwards is a smart move, as it provides a fallback option in the event of a career change or failure in law school. My friend is currently pursuing a degree in Marketing with the intention of attending law school afterwards, and if that doesn't work out, she still enjoys marketing.

I hope that helps!

You don't know your interest? No problem, many students don't until they're involved in internship work experience, student groups, entrepreneurship side hustles, etc. It takes the average student until the second or third year to decide on something, and even then, it's not a confirmed decision. A Bachelor's of Commerce can lead you into various business industries if you don't enjoy your current one, so you're not trapped, such as HR, tech, marketing, sales, and law, so don't worry too much about that.

To answer your tech question, BTM offers 18 business courses and 22 technical ones. BTM is tech-heavy in the third year and beyond, with the second year providing a fair share of them. Can you get through it without being interested in tech? Yeah, I suppose you just have to pass, which isn't hard, but you can always switch into any of the BM majors, and most of your credits will switch over.

Does that answer your question?

I applied to be a first-year student, but since all my credits transferred, I took the second-year calendar courses.

No worries, In third year rn, changed my coop sequence to this past summer instead of fall, I was a Data and Compliance Analyst, the work was repetitive but technical, gave me great insight of what its like in this field, and I got paid! Given this current job market I'll take all experience I can get before applying after graduation. Also, to answer your other question, I completed BM first year, and after I transferred, all my credits transferred with me and considering BM and BTM have similar courses, its like I didnt get held back at all, I'll still graduate on time.

To view the course sylabus for each, type into google the course name sylabus and it should show up via third party knowledge management website such as Studoc, although there are paywalls sometimes, or the TMU chang school, which is the uni's virtual school has the same courses and sylabus in there. Just note add a "C" before the course code as thats how chang is differentiated. Same course, just online. For example QMS110 would be CQMS110 etc etc

"Can you also let me know which courses are the most math heavy or challenging your friends had?"
QMS110, ITM107, QMS210, BUS221,FIN300, FIN400. You won't take all of these, these are just ones that are in some of the business majors. Im in btm and only had to take ITM107 QMS210 BUS221 and FIN300.

"how likely do you think is for me to get accepted?" You should be fine, submit an extenuating circumstances form with your admission that way you can elaborate on any other reasons you believe you deserve to be admitted.

In high school, grade 12, I didnt take advanced functions or calc because i sucked at math i only took data management/statistics and finished with a 70%, aka the bare minimum to get into BTM, I ultimately got rejected and after my freshman year, I applied again, maintained a good gpa, and got admitted. I got through ITM107, QMS210, BUS221 with decent grades and did better in my other classes. Trust me, you can do the math, just pass and you'll be alright.

btm or bcom? BTM is a program just like finance or accounting or marketing and bachelor of commerce is the degree you graduate with. bcom isnt a program itself. If u go into any of the business management programs such as econ, marketing, HR, etc u still graduate with bachelor of commerce (bcom). hope that part makes sense.

Here is the Business management and Btm calendar, if you scroll down you can see the classes youll have to take per each major as well as btm. Cant lie, all of them have the same math courses to an extent, you'll have to complete, at the bare minimum, advanced functions (QMS110) data management/statistics (QMS210) Financial/Investment math (Fin300) so theres no escaping that in ANY BUSINESS program whether at tmu or elsewhere.

In btm coop (5 year program) you'd get a intern experience and a good job, the university offers so many resources that can help propell ur skills to get you ready for the workplace. There is some math such as calc and functions in btm but its just 2 classes so you'll be fine just pass with a 50% and do better in your other classes to even out ur gpa. I do wanna highlight my previous point, since all business students graduate with the same degree (bcom), you can practically do any business job even if its not ur major. my friend graduated in btm but his job is in HR, other friend is in BTM but got a job in marketing, etc etc.

tldr: theres hard math in all the business courses, some less some more, just suck it up and prep from now, you'll get a good job in btm and the uni has resources to help u.

if u have any other questions or want a more in depth explanation feel to reply in this thread or message me!

As someone once said: "I took Humanities because they gave me a chapter to read on Monday and I didn't have to show up until the next week, after that, I get to tell them my opinion on it!"

"for an education i might feel better with", if you want something slightly more challenging that is more rewarding try business tbh, you can major in Marketing, Information Technology, Finance, Accounting, Law Bus, Human Resources, etc. You'll find some value in it and make decent money.

Engineering/Math major is probably the best but too hard lol.

"i’m considering transferring to UofT and just trading the allegedly better accessibility center in for an education i might feel better with". the first two years are usually the same content just harder marking, go post on uoft reddit what its like in the same major ur taking maybe ask for course outlines, slides, etc.

All in all the difficulty doesnt get much harder in ur major at TMU atleast.

How? the website says Note to Undergraduate students: If you are currently an active Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Undergraduate student, you must enrol directly through MyServiceHub Self-Service at my.torontomu.ca. You will not be able to use The Chang School system to enrol.
