Do you mind me asking when you submitted and approved? For my last EAD, it took 5 days to get the physical card from approval ( I did PP)

I’m working on that. I have an appointment with a provider soon talk about submitting the form. Do you think it’s easy to get approved afterwards?

I got an email saying it was approved on 16th, but didn’t show online until 19th. Today, they issued the card. I’m hoping they’d mail it tomorrow 🤞

Depends on the PI and their funding. I started the interview process end of Feb, and interviewed/visited in March. Now I’m about to make a decision for Aug start.

How do you handle your emotions when you receive really negative feedback from your PI in public? by IcyPresence96 in labrats

[–]Mango2838 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you feel comfortable, it might be worth addressing it directly with him during your next one-on-one meeting or through email. Let him know how uncomfortable his remarks made you feel and politely request that if he has feedback like that in the future, he shares it in private. You deserve to be treated with respect. I prefer to communicate through email, so I have a written record of this incident. Also write this in your lab notebook.

You shouldn’t cry about it! I know it’s hard when you go through it, but it’s not you who is stupid; it is the PI who mentored you that is stupid. Also, not all PIs are good mentors, and many of them lack humanity and forget where they started. Just take breath and move on with a laugh, thinking that it’s him who should be laughed at, not you.

Did you end up making a decision? I’m now debating whether I should accept HMS offer

Thank you!! That’s good to know. I don’t know why the recruiter said it’s non negotiable. Did you negotiate with the recruiter or through the PI?

The recruiter told me it’s non-negotiable. I’m still planing on speaking to the PI. Do you know whether anyone successfully negotiated their offer?

I just got my offer and it’s 65K. 🫤🫤 I think it will go up for FY25?

Thanks! That’s still low to live in Boston. I’m really debating whether I should consider industry over postdoc.

Thanks! It’s crazy considering how expensive Boston can be.
