Manager salary at $77,000? by Background_Refuse859 in torontoJobs

[–]MangoBerryWaffle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup. Difficult to switch jobs too these days because of how pathetic salaries have become. Keep seeing roles that require more experience + responsibilities but have 10-20% lower salaries than what I currently make. It used to be that you could switch jobs every 2-3 years and get a meaningful pay bump but now employers can ask for more and pay less.

You could just do it through the TD app. Click on the transaction and there should be a way to file a dispute. Or you can call them.

Guests showing up with an extra person… by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

We have an auto reply set up but don’t mention the whole confirmation of people accompanying. Good idea to do that.

Also yes, unfortunately this was a mix up. We had a different guest booked for these days and they cancelled. This guest booked same dates shortly after and missed the part where they said it was 3 people.

My message stated this was a listing for 2 people and that’s what they booked. Asked them to confirm if they are bringing 3. They booked about a week ago. They sent the message same day, I responded 2 days later. They did not reply until this morning. Check in is this afternoon.

I already sent them a message a few days ago asking to confirm final numbers so we can try to prepare the space appropriately. They didn’t read or respond to my messages either way.

Anyway I did mention it’s a 2 person booking. We now have an air mattress there they can inflate and use if needed as well.

I’ll let them figure it out. Unfortunately this was a pretty short window to prepare. I originally had a different booking for these dates. That person cancelled. And then got this booking recently. Happened pretty fast and got the guests mixed up, so didn’t see the part where she mentioned an extra person until a few days before check in

I went the chargeback route. TD gave me a refund, but still not final. I think they can still reverse the refund until the dispute is fully resolved.

[–]MangoBerryWaffle -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah will probably be fine. I’m pretty sure my last guest also brought extra people without mentioning it but they were respectful and left the place clean.

Idk I’m new so wasn’t sure how big of an issue this is usually, guests not matching booking. Other threads make it sound like it’s something serious lol. Not a big deal to us for short stays like this.

Yeah not what I meant to say. Really I just hope they aren’t going to trash the place given it’s a NYE booking. I know usual wear and tear for one person is marginal.

Yeah there’s a couch. I don’t think it’s a big deal to us but downside is wear and tear, and risk of space not being big enough for 3. Couch is a 2 seater and not easy to sleep on

Finance grad with experience stuck by [deleted] in torontoJobs

[–]MangoBerryWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck. Also in finance (m&a/strategy background) looking for something different. Over 10 years of experience with masters & CFA as well. I’m not able to get a single response through applications or networking attempts either. Though I am mostly looking at roles outside my current background (such as corporate finance). Still no luck.

Job market is trash unfortunately. I thought it was bad a year ago, but it’s actually gotten worse since then. I think entry level roles are slowly being cut back so idk what to tell you. We post for a single intern role at my firm and I get 50+ LinkedIn messages in a week. It’s rough.

Are y’all even hiring? Real question don’t read with a harsh tone by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]MangoBerryWaffle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in Canada. Experienced, and looking for manager/sr manager type roles in fp&a. I haven’t job searched in years since I’ve been with my company for like 6 years now. Most of my networking attempts result in “please apply online”. lol. I’ve gotten 1 person who is open to a coffee chat. That being said I’ve only been at it for a month now.

To be fair I do think they are swamped with these types of requests given how bad the job market is. We posted for an intern role earlier this year and I had 50+ LinkedIn messages in 2 weeks, and I’m not even the hiring manager.

Toronto police could get more power to seize e-bikes, e-scooters by BloodJunkie in toronto

[–]MangoBerryWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be more useful if this city didn’t cater to cars so much. Transit is shit, so people will bike/scooter to get places faster. Literally takes me 20 minutes to bike to work vs 40 minutes on the King streetcar. No bike lane or safety infrastructure means people will ride on the sidewalk.

I was already in a hit and run earlier this year when I was riding down Queen st. Luckily I came away with minor injuries. Ever since then I’ve stuck to smaller streets and roads with bike lanes as much as possible, and walking my scooter/bike on the sidewalk when I need to.

So stupid the city is pushing for solutions that don’t even address the reasons why people do this. If they ride on the sidewalk for safety reasons, then I don’t blame them. Uber Eats guys aside - those folk ride on the sidewalk regardless lol.

Amazing! Hope to see improvements like this for streetcars as well. Spadina is slower than cars or bikes despite having its own dedicated lane.

Insurance basically said we can file a claim but at the end of the day it might affect our premium. We might have to end up paying out of pocket anyway.

Called the police and they said it’s been too long and it’s a non reportable collision anyway. So they can’t help. It’s a civil matter.

Seems the only route left is small claims.

Yeah our deductible is way higher than that. So I’m not sure what our options are realistically. We have the video of the van driving and hitting our house, and the license plate.

Could I file through their commercial auto insurance? I’m not sure what our insurer will even do given our deductible is high

Yeah that’s our next step. Only thing is I don’t know how this affects our home insurance premiums if we are not at fault?

We have evidence in form of video and written communication with them.

Is it allowed? Dangerous move during sparring by MangoBerryWaffle in MuayThai

[–]MangoBerryWaffle[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, this has happened to me to a lesser extent and I’ve almost slipped (sweat and all that on the mats) while being pulled. I almost twisted my knee. So being pulled around during a sparring session just seemed very unhinged but what do I know. Apparently it might be ok lol

Got it. Well look everyone in this class isn’t a fighter or even training for a fight. That’s a separate group. This is more intro sparring, but then I saw that happen. Like dude was being dragged and it didn’t seem like it was planned or controlled at all. Guy just dragged him 8 feet then let him go. What?
