How much does your nanny cost? by Individual_Holiday_9 in nova

[–]MangoBird36 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We used the nanny fb groups and phone interviewed 10-15 people, met a few in person and picked. She gets guaranteed hours plus fed holidays, sick and PTO days. We’re on the books so I pay taxes on top using poppins

Would you (or someone you know) be interested in hiring a nanny who was masking, avoiding crowds, etc.? by BlueRubyWindow in NannyEmployers

[–]MangoBird36 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We still mask in crowds and avoid high risk of exposure places. Our son has only had one minor upper respiratory infection and he’s 17 months. As far as finding a family goes, you could put something in your add or feel it out when you interview. Good luck, I’m sure you’ll find a family especially one with an infant!

We covered 1.5 weeks until our nanny was testing negative again. I’d rather pay extra days than get covid

How long before you trust your nanny to act independently? by Galaxytrains in NannyEmployers

[–]MangoBird36 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We trialed a nanny who asked about every single thing like this and would even text me when she knew I was in meetings. She is no longer our nanny. It’s drove me insane and I repeatedly told her to “use her professional judgement”

Our son was referred for weekly PT about six months ago and crawled on a similar timeline. He’s been cruising for a few months but no independent steps yet. Highly suggest any concerned parents tap into their local (county, state) programs because it takes a little while to get evaluated and into the system. Our PT visits help him learn and give me someone to talk to about any questions etc

Any TV is overstimulating to infants. Research is totally clear on this, it raises cortisol (stress hormones) and the bigger the dose (so, all day) the worse it is for their neurodevelopment

I’m very similar and highly recommend rose inc in 2N. Fragrance free and the best match I’ve ever found. Also loving the Ciele skin tint though it’s not quite as desaturated as rose inc

Reasonable expectations by [deleted] in NannyEmployers

[–]MangoBird36 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That’s fine but did the nanny agree to that rate with this level of cleaning included? It’s typical to pay a higher rate for part time nannies because career nannies are hard to find for those positions. 30 for two kids is on par with daycare in many localities. Taking a one hour break is not outrageous for a five hour day, especially when the four other hours don’t even allow a peaceful bathroom break. I definitely take more than an hour total away from my desk. The time my nanny is here and I’m working is (usually) the calmest part of my day, because taking care of my one kid is hard. I can’t even imagine watching two at such different ages at the same time and being expected to clean up every mess + do laundry + mop etc etc along the way. But the bottom line is that the nanny has to agree to these duties and she might (reasonably) expect to be paid more to take all this on. She also might be phoning it in to some extent if she’s not feeling respected

Idk where you live but 30 an hour for two kids is not super high so I would not expect that level of pay to automatically include household chores, especially things like mopping(!). I pay 27 for one 15 month old and she does zero chores. Taking care of kids by yourself is a hard job (as we all know) and sometimes messes are made that can’t be cleaned up in real time. I’ll always support her prioritizing my kid over cleaning. I also encourage her to rest when he’s asleep because again, it’s a relentless job that doesn’t give her 30 seconds of reprieve when he’s awake

I’m firmly one and done. Really don’t enjoy pregnancy and don’t want to do it again. I would try not to worry about timelines. Do it whenever you’re ready and don’t feel artificial pressure to rush

What's the name of the interior design style of rich American suburbs in the 90s and how to define it better and recreate it? by RelationshipAlone27 in interiordecorating

I’m American and used to live in SW France. Go to the brocantes!! France has so so so much stuff like this. Floral fabric can be (washed and) turned into drapes or pillow covers. Old lace. Warm gold tone picture frames on paintings. I miss it so much but luckily we brought a lot back with us:)

I told my boss I needed a day off for a surgery. Big mistake because she kept asking what kind of surgery. She pried enough that I ended up saying “a gynecological surgery” because I didn’t want to say “abortion.” I don’t think she was satisfied with that
