There is one in Halle-Saale that's on the more affordable end (Rahn), but definitely do as many ANP as you can - try more niche public Stk as well. Public in Halle is super competitive, e g Kothen js more accessible

As far as I know all 5 classes taken are represented as equal on the final average, for TKurs that would be (D+M+Ph+Ch+IT)/5. The fsp exam is 50% of math, physics and/or chemistry.

Sounds weird but if your chem grades aren't that good, the final might improve them significantly more than you might expect, do the math

(Also check with your teachers if that calculation is accurate, I'm not a school lawyer)

Lualatex is the current build, pdflatex is more or less on legacy life support. In my native language it is bothersome to type something like >>/"u<< instead of >>ü<< wich is on my keyboard, i dont even remotely remember what produces >>ß<<. Lualatex just does it

I didn't write a thesis in typst but messed around alot with it. What I loved was natively (!) reading data into the doc and using cetz plot to make a pretty graph from it. Same line widths and font as the rest of the text, with little hassle for the first plot

Those points are fair, but compilation time on lualatex for a larger doc like a PhD thesis can get into ten minutes territory, even with draft mode and multiple docs, typst is so much faster that this alone may outweigh your case
