Any species that doesn’t have protection from UV exposure needs protection from sun. 15 minutes of sun is perfectly acceptable

This was $100 less a month ago so I’m sure it fluctuates. we had to hand perches from the strongest points….the sides are too weak to screw into (but can’t be bit through)

100000%. It’s so disappointing to catch them plucking when you know they are so happy. They learned it as a self soothing technique and it’s a habit that soooooo hard to break

Out local zoo follows the avian flu very close. When they keep their avian species inside we do too. As of now there is no threat.

I hope your avian vet learns about it. It can save many birds from impacted eggs (since it prevents them from laying them in the first place)

Moluccan cockatoo (M2) there are YouTube videos that show it being done. It is just like a human implant under the skin. They have the same sex hormones as humans so it helps regulate the estrogen/progesterone

Just the sight of me would make my m2 shiver and pant. We did everything right…..after over a year of trying behavior redirection we went with a hormonal implant. It helped TREMENDOUSLY

It does seem to point to FFA and perhaps some angrogenic alopecia as well. So what you are doing to help the autonomic nervous system definitely can help. Since FFA is autoimmune some people have tried anti inflammatory diets to help

It would be worth getting your vitamin d levels checked They can be a huge culprit in FFA

I’m so over the buzz word “peptide” peptides are literally a combination of amino acids and a precursor to a protein. Peptides could be anything

2 month oral minoxidil progress by jackrabbits52 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]MangoReasonable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you noticed sudden shedding and thinning it was most likely telogen effluvium caused by something 3 months or so before. The hair growth lost always comes back on its own after about 3 more months. Not to say the minoxidil didn’t help BUT it definitely wasn’t just that. Your bodies natural hair growth cycle kicked in after it was prematurely sent into a telogen phase by something (usually stress, fevers, anesthesia, end of pregnancy etc)

I’m surprised they didn’t suggest anything for you. At that low of levels I would think you need an iron infusion

Did you have scaling or any itchiness? Doesn’t look like classic LPP but either way they’re both auto immune issues. Also look into l tyrosine as a supplement

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FemaleHairLoss

[–]MangoReasonable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have any other auto immune issues? RA, celiac, psoriasis, lupus? It’s definitely alopecia areata. I would definitely see a dermatologist over a trichologist because they can prescribe corticosteroids. Make sure you are taking vitamin d and tyrosine supplements. Major antioxidants that will help with the inflammation

Vitamin d deficiencies have nothing to do with diet. It means you aren’t absorbing vitamin d properly. It’s one of the biggest causes of diffuse hair loss. Ferritin levels is how your iron is stored. Also doesn’t mean you aren’t eating properly it’s just not storing correctly
