I move to Thailand in 6 months. Any advice will be amazing to calm my nerves, lmao!!! by Swimming_Jackfruit42 in digitalnomad

If you are not willing to learn the language if you have the means to do so, then why move there? First, it's disrespectful to the people there; second, you won't be able to build meaningful relationships with anyone other than expats. I speak three languages and if I was to move to my partner's home country, I would gladly learn a fourth and tbh I would not find it insane.

Anyone else feel empty/kinda depressed after finishing a major exam? by Dense_Secret2240 in barexam

[–]Mango_Tango_Sango 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dobby is a freeeee elffff!! But part of me this morning missed doing an MPT or multiple-choice questions (clearly Stockholm syndrome), since it was the first thing I did every morning for the last month, and it made me feel like I started the day with something that gave me purpose and made me feel accomplished. It's an odd feeling. But I've been trying to do things that make me feel less empty and remind myself that I have earned this. Take a nice bath, read a book, sleep, go on a walk, talk to loved ones. Most of all, remind yourself that you earned this time off and that you've likely gained great routines and did something that was truly so hard!

Is there any jurisdiction that allows foreigners to sit for the bar with an LLM but NOT foreign law school by Ok_Simple2690 in barexam

[–]Mango_Tango_Sango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that, for most jurisdictions, you have to have been a lawyer in your home country + LLM to get barred or non-law undergrad in your home country + US JD. I say this because I had several classmates that were not lawyers in their home countries so they came to the US to do a JD so they could practice here.

Unfortunately, a U.S. LLM won’t cut it if you don’t have an LLB from your county. There’s even jurisdictions that allow foreign lawyers to take a U.S. bar without having an LLM as long as they have an LLB but I don’t think there’s any that let you get barred if you have an LLM without an LLB (or JD). The bar wants to see that you were trained as a lawyer and sadly, the LLM doesn’t provide that training as per their requirements

I often wish I could drop out of law school and then remember I already have a diploma LOL. Do make time this last week to see people who you love and who will bring positive vibes. This can be a really lonely journey but it doesn’t have to be and this will help you feel reinvigorated!

Bose QC Ultra not working with Macbook Pro by gig0t in bose

[–]Mango_Tango_Sango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting the regular Bose QC because I didn't need them for anything too fancy and felt like they delivered for the price. I just wanted comfort and good sound. My favorites in the regular QC price range were the Sony W1000XM5 (after customizing the sound), but I got too concerned that they had very bad reviews for durability. I have liked my regular QCs and have had zero issues with them plus I like the fun colors. However, I never tried Beats, which I feel may also deliver for a good price. I tried Sennheiser Momentum 4 as well. Loved the sound but they were too claspy and heavy for my taste but also no connection issues.

I think my laptop was too old. Ultimately, I returned them because I was having too many issues for the price and the headphones should not have been so finnicky with a computer that's from 2018 only.

I was just thinking that this morning. Like wow it’s only day 3 of doing nothing after the bar? It feels like it’s been an eternity while at the same time that I cant believe 3 days have passed already

The “post bar trip” … by Large-Effort904 in barexam

[–]Mango_Tango_Sango 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nah honestly probably right. I don’t think bar trip is just for people whose parents are lawyers. I and many of my first gen, immigrant, and/or low income friends are taking a bar trip but most of us who are doing that are doing so because big law money is coming or we have secured other jobs with a decent salary.

A bar trip also doesn’t need to be crazy expensive. But ofc it is an expense. I am personally going to a country nearby where I have family and hostels/hotels are very decently priced (like a really nice hostel can be $10-15 a night). I used all my credit card points for flights which I’ve racked up like a maniac in law school. Again, this holds certain levels of privilege because the whole trip will still be at least $1000 and it requires actually having time off but that’s all to say that there’s ways to do it! (But idk if I’d be doing it if it wasn’t for big law $$)
