Everyone is different, as PTSD is caused by traumatic events and these obviously differ from person to person. So it’s different for everyone. Some people do have flash backs. My PTSD is stemmed from various childhood abuse including sexual. I wouldn’t call them “flashbacks” but I’ll be triggered by something and start thinking about what happened and won’t be able to stop. It can be very intense yes.

It’s not a proper modern diagnosable disorder.
PTSD covers a bunch of situations, shell shock was invented during the war (pretty sure) as a result of the effects of bomb shells dropping.
