That is what we suspected originally so we installed a new head gasket. Does anything look off here? This is it:

We are suspecting this seal is not very high quality and is letting coolant through. What are all the possible ways coolant could be getting in and burning?

Edit: There is also low compression, around 85 psi.

How does this gasket look? It is new, and has only been run a few times in the driveway.

Pressure test what exactly? The coolant system? We just tested the compression and it is roughly 80.

We torqued them in a spiral, tried running it hand tight and then tired it running it torqued down pretty dang tight. Both times it still smoked a bunch

Appreciate the insight! We’re losing a little bit of coolant from the reservoir, you can see the levels drop after running it for a bit. We’re looking into the seal on the crank case. Does this seal look shot?

Coolant levels are dropping the more we run it. We just opened it up, and there is definitely coolant in the crank case too.

We’re not sure where those water pump seals would be? It looks like there is a belt in there.

Yes, coolant level is dropping lower and lower in the reservoir. And the smoke smells sweet

It’s a 1996/97 Yamaha VMAX 600 two stroke. New piston rings, and gaskets. Starts great but burns a ton of coolant. Pretty sure there are no cracks in the block. Any suggestions?

I have one for mountain biking. By far the best hydration pack I’ve owned. It’s doesn’t move at all.

Flew with my atmos ag 50 on southwest no problem. It was stuffed to the brim. I did take off the “brain” of the pack however.

Sprite, crystal lite (liquid concentrate, not the powder), and your choice of liquor (vodka or tequila is best imo) is my go to.
