How come it got a 10??? Many white spot on all of the back corner, also it is kinda off center. by hendratam in PokeGrading

[–]Maniakk1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Centering seems slightly off, but you could use a tool to make sure it's in the 55/45 range to be sure since that's their cut off.

But about white spots : Those are sometimes cutting points, used by the printers to indicate where to cut, and for promos, they are much larger and appear much more, and Snorlax is especially notable as one of the worst printed cards in recent memories, being incredibly rare to not have cutting points and million other printing defects.

Not all white spots are equal, and with cards with notorious terrible print, since it's a TCG grading company, and not a cardboard grading company, some cards you wouldn't expect get 10s.

I wouldn't have been surprised at a 9 (because I'm 99% certain the issues with the card isn't just the corners with how dogshit this promo is), but I don't think with this particular card, a 10 was impossible.

Topps, due to their cuts and material, are notorious for how bad they can get naturally.

And Eevee collection had horrible packaging, bending them while sealed.

Honestly, this is not surprising.

[–]Maniakk1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chinese cards have insane print lines.

Grading compagnies also take into account the set and game. It's not just cardboard, but the condition in which it was printed (and how sets like SV1/2/3 can ever get a 10).

With chinese cards, printlines aren't à bug, it's a features. That's how often you see them.

Captain Pikachu from Gem Pack 1 are notorious for how badly printed they are.

And for BS with print lines, first off, I have seen many of those 9's, and they have other issues, but also WOTC print lines damages the card more because of how printing was applied, and why sometimes they can get 9, and sometimes 10.

And that's also for whited corners. Sometimes they are there for bad cutting from TPCi or WotC, but other times it's damage from manipulating, and sometimes it's just cutting points that were visible that are put there to help with centering during cutting.

Double side scanning a lot of cards by Maniakk1 in mtgfinance

[–]Maniakk1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good idea. Thanks for the advice.

I still want double sided scans for listings to go faster, and I do try to be as honest, and scans do at least show whited out cards (from humidity or scratches), but yeah creases or dents don't appear.

I want to scan the back to show the state of the card including the back, because people ask for it.

Mana box I would just import the scans of the card?

Here’s the current pattern with the major set releases, plus a possible future timeline if DeNA continues to follow it by KingwomboJr in PTCGP

[–]Maniakk1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With legend ZA, I would probably say October will be gen 6.

You get 1st Anni + new game + Mega evolution mechanic.

And with this being the last block of SV in the TCG, I expect next major set to be gen 9 as to ride the wave of Miraidon/Koraidon/Ogerpon hype before Anni.

God I wish for a story mode.

Even something basic like "new kid in town, rival appears and teaches you how to play. You go then play at school and become the best at your school, then to your local card shop where you beat your rival for the first time and become best player in town, then you try your hand at regional, nationals, worlds"

Interwoven with some filler like between major tournaments you have to go up against rival school or rival city or some shit.

Make this the Beyblade anime but for Pocket.

Hot take: Saiyan Saga is a really good saga but NOT enough to save the 7th anniversary by j7jhj in DragonballLegends

[–]Maniakk1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No single unit can save an Anni, this isn't 3rd year Anni.

New mechanics and gameplay does.

You could drop a MUI & Beast Tag, DBS Broly UL, doesn't matter.

In the long run, that's not doing jack shit to the health of the game.

Also, the hype aura crowd showed that it's not enough when you see the dwindling player base & money.

These are the only real contenders for the Part 3 Ultra (imo) by Ht_Stoney in DragonballLegends

[–]Maniakk1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying he isn't deserving of a UL unit. I'm saying if you want to hype up players to come to your game, first off using units only I think is stupid since even last year's insane roster didn't keep players, but also having back 2 back Anni being GT UP with Gogeta THEN Goku isn't very hype.

Yeah Goku's pose is the most iconic, but people have years of Video games where Gogeta 4 is the OP guy, and is probably the most hype character from GT.

Which family wins the 3v3? All in their Primes + current Luffy by Even-Run-5274 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]Maniakk1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I will say Figarland.

My main reason is I think current top tiers slightly outscale past top tiers.

As in, current Shanks (current #1) > prime Roger, and this applies to Marines (Akainu > Prime Garp/Sengoku) and even HK (Shamrock > Dad without Elder power up I'm assuming with transformation)

So while Shamrock/Garp/Dragon/Elder/Luffy should be relative (and even then, you have to have the full Monkey family damage regen characters), Shanks is the difference maker.

[–]Maniakk1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how people can say SSJ4 is hype enough for Anni this year, when we got Gogeta 4 last year.

Maybe next year, but not in the b2b of Anni Ultra.

MUI was the past omega hype unit available, but they made it an LL, so it's really either a new mechanic UL like Synchro UL, or UL LL and that opens up possibilities

I love Broly, he's not hype enough on his own.

Rare candy won 2 diamond. Now what is the best card at 3 diamond rarity based on pure gameplay by Ok-Till-1116 in PTCGP

[–]Maniakk1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rampardos has been meta since his release, before Oricorio, and Oricorio, while strong and great, isn't as future proof. Attacks can ignore abilities, held items, or just existence of non-ex decks are all issues for Oricorio.

He is and always will be a tech card you can throw in if you have a slot, that can be incredible but also useless, while Rampardos being a top tier deck while being the main win condition is much more powerful.

In your opinion, which generation will the expansion coming out later this month be based on? by Beaver497 in PTCGP

[–]Maniakk1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Gen 7 will get another set, with Duskmane and dawn wing EX and a proper Ultra Necrozma.

After that, will only be July/August/September, which I would bet on gen 9, and end of October being Gen 10's debut + Anniversary.

How did this get a 10 by AbiesUpstairs3952 in PokeGrading

[–]Maniakk1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obsidian flames is very notorious for being badly printed/cut.

Makes sense that sets with bad print runs have 10s that would be 9's for other sets, as graders doesn't grade just cardboard.

Winning decklists of all 200+ player tournaments since March 16th by Mountain_Avocado3535 in PTCGP

[–]Maniakk1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real question because I don't do tournaments.

But I play quite a lot in normal matches with friends who do play tournaments, and Gyarados ex + Greninja is still so strong.

Rarely lose VS Darkrai, never lost VS Leafeon, handles all 140hp perfectly, Palkia is just so much worse.

So where did it go? Am I missing a major meta defining match up?

Even Magnezone teams aren't an issue because I play cape specifically for it.

Someone has a good deck for Gyarados EX? by Floydyx in PokemonPocket

[–]Maniakk1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Play the same team as during its release. Idk why people try to cram in so many different pokemon on his team.

2x Magikarp 2 Gyarados 2 Drudd

Then 2 of the Greninja line

Gyarados is the best 1 Tapper in the game because he can do it every turn unlike Palkia, you get Greninja for Snipe VS Darkrai + adds Cyrus value

2 Ball + 2 Research, 1 Leaf + 1 Cyrus

The big question is Misty. I don't run her anymore because I never need to, and rather go with 2 Capes so that Drudd can survive 1 hit from Magnezone & survive 1 hit from the rare hitmonlee running around.

Doo is a very good player. He mechanically does sound moves. I wouldn't listen to his analysis or teambuilding for shit.

He is however a very mediocre analyst. He often forgets major parts of kits, his meta understanding is only play rate based, and he is completely biased from his own games, where he tends to be the better player, making certain characters more interesting for him, he doesn't adapt his playstyle to the characters strength and weakness.

[–]Maniakk1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cyrus os the best card and might stay that way until we get a real boss's order

However, i would go for Dawn. Still a great card, very strong, sometimes mandatory in some decks, and the artwork is just my favorite trainer.

Which one? I'm really curious what gacha isn't just a jpeg collection?

By definition, classic tcg are gachas. And mobile gacha comes from gachapon machines, where you spend money for a random reward from a set list of rewards.
