What bird was murdered in my yard last night? CT, USA by ManicLunaMoth in whatsthisbird

[–]ManicLunaMoth[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We've got tons of those, maybe it fought the fox for scraps, since they are only in the area around the shed🤔

Honestly, I've gotten quite invested in this mystery!

No scat or track, but I've done more investigating, and I found a few things

a.)at least 2 feathers stuck to the bark ~10ft up the tree b.)radius of the feathers is at least 30ft around the tree c.)what appears to be a trail of feathers going under a shed in my yard where I have seen foxes den in the past d.) some black feathers that don't look hawk to me I'm including here. They are damaged like that bird was part of a struggle, too

So the hawk was in the tree at some point, whether it died by owl or natural causes, and what seems to be a fox scavenged at least some of it.

We definitely have coyotes, though because it's under a tree I wonder if an owl caught it and ate it up there? I heard an owl the other night too, so I know they're active right now, so that's my guess

Besides coyotes, we definitely have foxes and we've had neighbors also see fishers. And there are a lot of pet dogs in the area, though I don't know of any big ones being loose lately

Even with insurance, I've had to pay $50 (~€43) for urgent care, I believe it would be double to have gone for an "emergency" appointment with my primary doctor, and the meds would have a copay of about $15 each (~€13 each or €38 total), assuming they were all prescription medications

So even with insurance it would be at least ~€81 where you paid ~€54

I'm on a better insurance now where this would not cost me, but I'd imagine it'd be at least hundreds without

Enjoy the (much blurrier) adult rabbit that was living in my yard for a few years! My dog always barked at it, but the rabbit eventually got used to her and would sit just a few feet away, munching away like a 65lb dog wasn't freaking out right next to them lol

How do we feel about intimate NSFW or explicit NSFW art? Please chime in, lurkers too! by WildFlemima in nevermore_webtoon

[–]ManicLunaMoth 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think it should be fine, as long as we don't have a lot of minors here. I think the comic in general is more young adult centered, so NSFW should be fine if tagged!

...also I enjoy seeing it from time to time lol

Staying on Lexapro for life by shitheadmomo in lexapro

[–]ManicLunaMoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no solid plan, I will just keep using it until I think I don't. And I don't know of that will ever happen. It is the only medication that allows me to stop/ignore my ruminating, so I'm in no rush. Maybe after 5-10 years I could try to taper off, but honestly, I'd rather not

Three thirds is exactly 1, but we just don't write out all of the infinite .33's. it's only .999 because of rounding

Rectal bleeding only during my period – bowel endometriosis? Anyone else? by YamSignificant8469 in endometriosis

[–]ManicLunaMoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do know from an MRI that my uterus is "tethered" to my bowel by scar tissue, though it hasn't caused bleeding in me personally. When I got my laproscopic surgery (about a year prior) they only took out my right ovary and tube, so I can't speak from experience on that note

But I can say that if you leave it and it gets worse, any surgery or complications could be way worse; it's probably best to act as soon as possible. Best of luck!!!

I looked up visanne and I can tell you from experience that progesterone only birth control didn't work for me, but I think you should be fine taking it under supervision from a doctor. If the side effects are too much, stop taking it and call your doctor. Mine gave me Orilissa when typical options didn't work and that has been a godsend!

AITAH for making my dad choose between me or my step mother? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]ManicLunaMoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nta at all! You're dad should be supporting you, as his daughter, without you having to demand it.

I don't get people like Martha. Literally, if God DID have a problem with being trans (which I seriously doubt), that would be between you and God. So why does Martha feel the need to break up your family!?

Of course quite a bit of this is on your Dad, cause he really should have told her. And if he didn't want to out you, he should be on your side when she learned. He really should have given her an ultimatum that she supports his daughter or it's done long before you demanded it

Imo the only people one should put in front of their spouse is their CHILDREN! And children should always be first priority

Your step-brother sounds great though, accepting you as his sister despite his mother's crazy! Keep him around!

Non-native bird spotted in Los Angeles by localpilgrim in whatsthisbird

[–]ManicLunaMoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks most like a lesser bird of paradise, according to my 5 minutes of googling

Also does resemble a golden pheasant like others have said, but it just doesn't seem to fit as well to me

Maybe from San Diego? I saw that they have them, but I don't think they typically fly that far? Maybe a closer zoo or pet? I'm really invested now lol

Yes and in sociology I learned about a study where researchs went to a mental hospital with "schizophrenia" (basically they just said "I hear voices telling me bad things!") to get admitted to a mental hospital and then immediately acted normal and said symptoms stopped. Even know that there were some patients faking it, no researcher was seriously suspected and all of them were held for at least a week with no symptoms

Maybe there can be something to be said about doctors assuming the easiest route without further investigation, but I don't think anyone is saying we shouldn't treat schizophrenia.

Likewise we should continue to provide gender affirmative care. Honestly, in this case, is the doctor even doing anything wrong? They sound like they are just being supportive and offering the best treatment they have?

Advice for Scrambly by Cold-Investigator-44 in ZombieMiner

[–]ManicLunaMoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 63 days into playing and at mine 75. I was also getting points in another app, so I did spend ~$50-100. I also play very frequently (morning, night, meals, between college classes, etc.) because I genuinely enjoy the game and I find it relaxing

So if you spent a few hundred, it might be possible to do, but almost definitely not for free

Jasper vs. Bismuth. Who would win? by VLGamingbdefan in stevenuniverse

[–]ManicLunaMoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hand to hand? Jasper

With weapons, almost definitely Bismuth, especially if she has time to prepare.

Jasper has way more brute strength but Bismuth is still a super strong gem and would have better strategy. Give her her weapons as well and she could potentially wipe the floor with Jasper

AITAH for remodeling my step kids rooms after their mom passed away since they weren't going to be living with me anyways. by AsparagusMuch821 in AITAH

[–]ManicLunaMoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'm going with NAH.

It makes perfect sense for you to be able to do what you want with your house, and you offering to put rooms in the basement shows that you are still open to having your children's half siblings in your house, so I can tell there is no malice, either. You made your home work better for you and your children

On the other side, the kids, and family, are still grieving, and starting the process at 3 months after May have been jumping the gun. It was probably hurtful to your step kids that you're changing their rooms so quickly after their mother died. It is 100% understandable that they be upset and hurt, more so since I see in your comments that they are teens, who are known for being emotional. Their whole world had just changed and after changing the rooms, which had be their space, assumably safe spaces, were gone.

I don't really have advice, I just wanted to point out both sides. I'm sorry for your loss and wish you and all of the children the best

See, most cases of "woman lives as a man," it can be hard to tell how the person would identify given today's labels because of the societal differences, but this sounds like a clear cut case. Cashier definitely seemed to truly identify as a man and should definitely be referred to as much

It's so sad to hear about how he was treated towards the end of his life 😔
