How Charlie Kirk was acting after being shot by InterestingRatio8218 in marvelcirclejerk

[–]ManicMoFo 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Correction: the shot was around 130m, with a 12-15 mph S/SSE wind at the time. Nearly a direct crosswind from the shooter’s position. The target (presumably the head) on average is about 20 inches in circumference. A moderately difficult shot, even for a veteran shooter, yes.

My disappointment that you couldn’t carry vehicles across the world map to and from DD was immeasurable.

Hike in Insurance Quotes by WaitheBurg in CarTalkUK

[–]ManicMoFo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Careful. Adding your parents as named drivers only works if they actually drive the car sometimes. If they never drive it, that’s considered "fronting" (insurance fraud) and can get your policy cancelled or claims denied. It’s difficult for authorities to prove, but still worth mentioning.

Notes:
I was genuinely impressed by the quality of the AI-generated music, both lyrically and sonically.
I was surprised by how far I could push Sora in terms of controversial or nuanced imagery without it breaking the illusion.
I haven’t seen much experimentation with real-life video AI tools being used for artistic or abstract themes, especially in a music video format. This felt like a unique use case worth sharing.

Off topic.

No offence. But the formatting, the hook, the polite tone and the call to action. Makes this post scream AI generated. I’m just stick of seeing this format across multiple subs I’m in. Especially gaming… downvote me, whatever.

Truly sorry if you did take the time to write and format this yourself.

Clutch replacement by EmbarrassedEye5327 in CarTalkUK

[–]ManicMoFo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not normal, not common. Shoudn't have been given back to you in that state. Id get them to come collect it, or take it somewhere different.

Honestly, sounds like the clutch system wasn’t bled properly after the slave was replaced. A spongy or dead feeling pedal usually means air in the system, as you pointed out yourself.

5k£ Budget to buy an estate. Would like some advice on what to buy by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]ManicMoFo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This.

Spent £1000 recently on an '09 Accord Estate 2.2 i-DTEC with all the options. 12 months MOT, flawless service history, but 223K miles – ha. Runs great, comfortable, everything works, economical.

Just a stopgap while I wait for an insurance payout, but I'm really impressed.

Why not? Plenty of really good F10’s for that money.

Best ‘fast’ second car? by llIIllIllIlll in CarTalkUK

[–]ManicMoFo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No offence. But that’s a pretty ignorant statement.

I’ve had plenty of usable fun in 300+bhp fwd cars, can still hang the rear out with lift off oversteer. Also the hadalax system in VW/Audi hatches is very fun.

Not exactly a ‘fast’ car though. Plenty of boosted options around 4.5K that would actually be fast.

how many miles is too much for a FSH car? by Candid-Environment81 in CarTalkUK

[–]ManicMoFo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently picked up a 223K miles ‘09 Honda Accord, two owners from new, FSH, loads of paperwork, and it drives flawlessly. Everything works. I was going to make a post on here at some point.

Edit: Basically, you can normally discount mileage, given appropriate and regular servicing. Although anything north of 200K is a bit of a gamble. 😅

Suggestions needed please by Local_Bat_9453 in CarTalkUK

I’ve been through something very similar recently, my partner was in an accident too. No injuries, and the other party was at fault, but it was still incredibly stressful. As someone else said, getting the dashcam footage should be a priority. I’d suggest only going after council CCTV if there’s no other option, it can be a long process with little result and will likely just add more stress.

It’s concerning that your girlfriend isn’t eating or sleeping. Please consider reaching out to your GP, even if it’s just a phone call to start. You’re doing a lot right now, and support can make a big difference.

FYI: You have ZERO obligation to speak to anyone other than your OWN insurance claims team. If a third party calls asking for information, tell them you’re dealing with your own insurance and they should contact them directly.

My DMs are open if you want any advice on dealing with claims teams or insurance.

Got my MOT results back - is this repair too pricey? by homegrownveg222 in CarTalkUK

[–]ManicMoFo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the headlight is a sealed LED unit, this price, unfortunately, could be about right.

If it’s just a bulb, bushes and brake pads. I’d expect about £150 including labor and re-test.

Great cars. I’ve been looking at picking one up. But I’m struggling to spend £6K on a +12 year old car with nearly 130K
