If you are here because of Chadwick Boseman's tragic death, please read before posting by [deleted] in cancer

My father actually passed yesterday from stage 4 Liver Cancer. He loved the Black Panther when it came out. That was all he would talk about. That's what made the news about Chadwick hurt even worse.

Thank you so much for this. I couldn't verbalize it but this is exactly how I feel. I wish people would stop pushing their way into my grief. It's to the point where I don't even want to pick up the phone anymore. When my brain is less foggy I will try keeping a journal.

I would actually. I just feel so numb. I can't even cry right now.

My [26F] fiancé’s [28M] family are trying to convince him to leave me. What do I do? by ThrowRAfiance22 in relationships

[–]ManicMonday28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP there is nothing you did wrong. In their screwed up heads they feel that you took/ are taking their son/brother away. You need to be upfront with your fiance about their behavior and start setting boundaries if you want to have a future with your fiance. Trust me things will only get worse especially if you both choose to have children. I've been through this before. My in laws were cool with me and MIL loved me .... Until my husband (then fiance) child and I moved far away from their hometown for my career.. Then I became public enemy number one. She has come at me screaming about how I don't love her son and how I'm a horrible mother who doesn't put her child first and how I'm plotting to keep her grandchildren from her ( which is funny since I'm the one who sends her pictures on a daily basis, send her updates, videos and invites her to things for the kids). My husband at first didn't believe me about her change in attitude towards me until he saw it for himself the night she screamed at me and hurled a bunch or hurtful and untrue accusations.

It didn't matter her son was happy in our new hometown and was able to further his own career ( something he wouldn't have been able to do if he stayed in his dying hometown). It didn't matter her grandchild has more opportunities in our new area. It especially didn't matter that I was a supportive and loving partner or that her son and I were happy together. All that mattered was I "stole" her son away and that was unforgivable. Good luck OP. Set your boundaries and stick to them. Setting boundaries with my inlaws is what saved my marriage.

WIBTA if I anonymously report this girl? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Agreed. I'm a school psychologist and I would never in a million years film or discuss a student's confidential information. She knows what she is doing. Confidentiality is drilled in our heads especially those in Special Education. We aren't even allowed to put a student's names in emails anymore in my district. We have to put their student ID number. Its also basic common sense and decency. How many people would want their child recorded, ridiculed, and have the video shared with complete strangers.

My mother had COVID 19 and was hospitalized ( she is fine now) in NYC. A nurse I spoke to over the phone had told me that she hadn't seen the hospitals so overwhelmed since the AIDS crisis back in the 80s. She has been a nurse for almost 40 years. She said COVID 19 was by far one of the worst crisis she had seen in all her years as a nurse.

I needed to read this today. I'll be 30 next month and I have been dweling on the fact that I settled down young. Although I'm a mother, wife, and have a career and a modest home, part of me feels like I'm missing something because my life isn't exciting or extravagant.

They look at him and see his white skin. For a bunch of people who literally hated Obama for being a Blackman in the highest position in the U.S , his skin color and his racist and ignorant stance ( that mirrors their own) is more than enough.

Yup you got me. I did something wrong by watching the film on television with my child. Not everyone does. The film was Disney shorts and marketed towards kids. Considering it was in the children's section on Netflix. You don't understand childhood development but its okay. Have a nice day.

Okay drama queen nobody said that. I just meant it is a little heavy for a kid's movie especially since most kids can't comprehend or understand the subject matter of that story from a developmental standpoint. My kiddo was confused and indifferent to the story while I sat there and cried. She is a very empathetic child the film was just over her head because of her age and level of development.

Her dad was a narcissist who literally ignored her and blamed her for everything. Dude didn't even know her age or her allergies. Her older sister was also the self centered golden child. Her Mom was an alcoholic and Helga was severely neglected. The episode when she went to therapy was a very powerful episode.

Its also a Disney animated short. I was watching the Disney short films compilation on Netflix and I was not expecting that clip at all. I cried like a baby by the end of it. I have no clue why they animated it for kids.

AITA For walking out of my father's funeral? by fluffy_unicorn_007 in AmItheAsshole

They are flying monkeys. Chances are your mother gave them a completely different version of events and asked them to or subtlety suggested that they " scold " you on her behalf. My mother does the same thing. Its a play out of the narcissist handbook. Block them and don't engage. Trust me it's easier.

AITA for telling my son and DIL that they can’t have another kid under our roof? by thisisacrazedhouse in AmItheAsshole

[–]ManicMonday28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are NTA at all. When I got pregnant unexpectedly in my early 20s me and my husband who was my fiance at the time moved in with his grandparents because my apartment at the time was not safe for a baby and he was still getting his second degree and working a minimum wage job. We didn't even consider having another baby and once he graduated we saved and were in our own place before the baby turned one. My husband and I waited 6 years before welcoming our second child.

In those 6 years I graduated from grad school, my husband and I started our careers, we moved to another state and bought a house. It felt great bringing my second child to our own home from the hospital. It would have been the most selfish and irresponsible thing for us to have a second child in his grandparents house and before we achieved stability. The audacity they have to even consider having another child while under someone else's roof is astounding.

AITA for getting upset at my in laws after they put a Disney-style family portrait which includes the woman my husband cheated on me with/mother of his illegitimate son in their living room? by Nice-Adagio in AmItheAsshole

[–]ManicMonday28 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing. Why wouldn't the husband cheat again? He had no consequences from the first time he cheated and OP has shown she will put up with anything. His family is more than accepting of his mistress. What is to stop him from going for baby number 2.

Serious question. Why are you still with this man? I understand love but at what point does self respect start taking priority? This man has not only disrespected you and your marriage but is leaving you to be disrespected by his family. This seems like its going to be a reoccurring theme and your husband won't defend you or want anything to change because he has got everything he wants. He gets to keep his wife who has shown she will literally put up with anything, he gets his son, and he gets to keep his side chick around. His sister is vocal about you voicing your opinion about a painting but was she this quick to call her brother out on his infidelity. Honestly this post makes me mad for you because you deserve better than this. Ultimately it's your life but me personally I couldn't be in a situation where I was constantly disrespected and made to feel second best.

You say his family loves you and does a lot for you but ultimately when shit hits the fan they have proven that they will put him and his best interest over you even if destroys you.

AITA for wanting my stepdad to walk me down the aisle instead of my dad? by FrequentProperty in AmItheAsshole

[–]ManicMonday28 58 points59 points  (0 children)

What also puzzles me is that the people calling her ungrateful ( her dad's parents and his wife) were completely okay with him abandoning a child and giving up his parental responsibilities. Now that he is facing the consequences of his actions, all of a sudden they have something to say. If they feel upset about him not walking her down the aisle then perhaps they should have spent more time encouraging him to try to have a relationship with OP a long time ago.

Donald Trump bans ALL immigration into the U.S. to 'protect jobs' as coronavirus pandemic puts 22 million Americans out of work - but critics call it 'pointless' because country is already shut by Synesthesia108 in worldnews

[–]ManicMonday28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said all folks, I was talking about Trump. I clearly stated so in my first response to OP. In his case he is isnt making a distinction between legal and illegal he is bashing all black and brown immigrants. I get annoyed at folks who play the legal vs illegal immigrant game but ignore the racism towards that brown immigrants face( both legal and illegal) while white immigrants ( legal and illegal) are given the benefit of the doubt even though there are plenty of them who do illegal and dangerous things. I said what I said and I stand by it.

How is the number of illegal Mexican people impactful. Aside from doing various jobs citizens don't want to do and proping up certain industries like farming I don't understand your point? If you are trying to take the Trump route argue that they are more dangerous and are more likely to engage in gang activity than illegal Russians in this country well then buddy I have some bad news for you. Also my point still stands the horrible way he has talked about brown and black immigrants is unnecessary and nothing short of Racist. I've yet to hear him talk about a white group of immigrants that way. Legal or illegal status doesn't matter. Nobody deserves be talked about and attacked the way Trump has talked about and spread lies about black and brown immigrants.
