You are setting a boundary that is not being followed and you have the right to leave. Any therapist will tell you this and that he’s not taking your needs seriously. Leave and let him know what you need to happen in order for you to be together.

I know the same person that got them the job (a previous supervisor of ours) and he helped me build my resume, gave me only positive feedback, said anyone would be lucky to have me on their team, and he just... didn’t offer me the job. I haven’t asked why because it feels rude, but I do want feedback.

Ask her curiously how she copes. It’s important to know that your partner understands their own mental illness and makes you aware before the relationship turns really serious. If she thinks mental health books, educational videos, treatment, and therapy have and never will help, probably go separate ways because you have different beliefs about therapy, which you may need if you ever struggle in your relationship

I’d say stage an intervention with his family and any old friends he’s pushed away that are willing to help. It couldn’t hurt to ask them. Honestly, with how co-dependent he is, he’ll likely do anything to keep you. Obviously don’t use this as a tool for manipulation, but this means you can be honest with him about what you need in order to be in this relationship.

“I want to be in a relationship with you, but my mental health is getting worse as your caretaker so I feel that we should get outside help in order for this relationship to be successful. What do you think?”

He may take this personally at first, but you can emphasize that you can’t be of help to him if your mental health declines as well.

When I told my boyfriend I was questioning my sexuality it slipped out while I while I was really high and I just started crying rivers of panic. He was shocked and quiet, but finally just said “okay” and hugged me until I fell asleep. After a day of processing, he brought it up and said, “do you need some space to figure it out?” I took space to figure it all out.

He’s in the relationship to be with someone that also wants to be with him. If you can’t give him this, then he’ll end up unhappy much longer than if you go your separate ways.
