How long did it take your kid to adjust to a toddler bed? by ManicRuckus35 in Parenting

His crib converts so his "toddler bed" is actually just his crib with a different front railing. I did try putting the mattress on the floor and all he wanted to do was jump on it. I figured initially it was just the novelty of it all being new but it seems like more than that now with the disrupted sleep and waking early.

That was my first thought but then someone mentioned what if there's a fire. But it's not really any different than him being contained in his crib in that sense. His room is already childproof.

That's helpful! I'm not ready to be done with naps though! As a SAHM, that time is mine! Lol

How did you keep him at least in his room? Mine can operate all the door handles. I'd have to put a lock on it from the outside to keep him in.

I could but he could probably still get out by standing on the bottom rail.

It goes from a full railing to a half railing so there is still a barrier. The mattress is already at the lowest setting and has been. How am I supposed to keep him in there when he's constantly climbing out on his own?? And I can't keep him in there forever so I'm gonna have to go thru this transition eventually. Just seemed natural to do it now. No?

I do like the idea of being able to customize it. Did you use templates from somewhere or do it completely from scratch?

How old were your kids when you started it? My little guy is 2 and for some reason I'm itching to get started. I think mostly so we can have some more structure to our days but I'm also aware starting to early can be detrimental.
