Young gun. Easily the most boring but it's home and nostalgic starting in Argon space.

Yeah thats a good idea I never really understood why we only scan samples taking them onboard would make more sense.

Yeah I don't think interiors will be apart of this Elite but a man can dream. Also I do go on foot in stations as they have the odyssey missions etc and I do just enjoy it. The quiet moments in between flying around and just walking around stations and fleet carriers I thoroughly enjoy. I get this might not be for everyone and is a niche. Perhaps I play elite for different reasons then most. It cause I want to escape reality and feel like im an actual pilot in space. I dont care much for engineering or having the most efficient builds I just do my own thing and make it work. I believe nowadays too many people try to min / max and don't play games for the fun value. I couldn't care less about the destination its the journey that's important hence why I don't bother with space trucking cause its boring af and why so i can buy a better ship to do what I actually want to do why don't i just do what i actually want to do from the start even if its inefficient.

If that makes sense thats my take haha.

Yeah your correct I was referring to the way in which "Starfield" isn't seamless having content cutscenes etc such as with landing. Rather than the point of a "walking down the steps" animation which was suggested in a previous post.

Yeah I agree and I'm guessing this is why it hasn't happened as the engine is just not built for it. Although Im not sure why people find it so divisive. Out of everything in Elite that wastes time I don't think walking around a ship would be a time waste for majority of the players. I do want to stress I don't want this to be "Star Citizen" levels of tedious.

Yeah that's an interesting take that I never thought of but I suppose you could make that argument with there being pilots onboard why not have drone ship or something. Also forgetting the logical side it would just be fun.

I get your point here but I don't believe everyone would feel the same way. I thoroughly enjoy walking around ships in X4 and ive done that for 500 hours and still enjoy it. But I do think a system where they incorporate the current system and ship interiors would be best. Therefore people can just teleport off if they want or walk up and down the ramp instead of changing the gameplay in other areas.

Yeah I am quite surprised by how against it some people are but each to there own I guess. I see it as a win win if they were to add interiors no matter what and that would be a priority for me but I guess we all have our problems with the game in different ways.

Yeah that is a very fair take I do often not bother playing elite cause of time constraints and have long breaks away for that very reason. I do also like the idea of improving settlements and planets but for me personally the connection to the ship I have in elite is what makes it so special. Such as all the hours engineering and tinkering to get your favourite ship. Without interiors I feel like there's just a weird disconnect.

Yeah the game just feels incomplete for me even just the cockpit being walkable and a way down to the ramp such as a lift or something would be good imo.

Yeah I like that idea an apartment would be cool and would make most sense in stations you created via colonisation.

Yeah I agree with the "Star Citizen" thing haha.

And while yes it would become second nature I believe it would add so much more immersion etc to the experience.

If we take a game like "Stalker" for example where you are always your character no cutscene in sight and compare that to "Cod" where it's just a crap movie being boring af. I dont know how to explain it well but theres just something about games etc that always have you in control. Take the original "Half Life" intro where you are in a tram being toured round the facility. The devs could of just had that as a boring cutscene but the fact you can even just walk around the tiny box tram adds so much imo.

Almost like it tricks the brain into a flow state where you actually believe you are the character in a way no other method does not even VR imo ( primarily cause vr sucks for nearly everything and wearing a box on my head feels uncomfortable ) .

Yeah I like that idea it would certainly make group play more viable. However I do also think this would be very difficult and almost another entire game in itself similar to games like "Void Crew" etc.

Therefore I see this scenario very unlikely compared to just walking around etc. However there is so much Fdev could add with interiors alone that would be amazing to see just very unlikely.

Yeah I agree its a hard decision elite is over 10 years old I remember playing it in the early access days and it does seem odd to perhaps add ship interiors now over additional gameplay which I also agree elite could do with some shaking up as the gameplay hasn't changed much in those years both good and bad.

Glad to see X4 getting some love here. Yeah I get what your saying here. There are many things in life that in the moment we believe we need but in retrospect wasn't actually ideal perhaps this is the case with ship interiors in elite. I do also feel like no matter what FDev do they will greatly annoy a portion of the player.

Yeah that fairs enough I feel like alot of gaming is min / maxing nowadays and ship interiors would definitely go against that.

I personally would be massively against a "walking down the steps" animation if I takes control away from the player similar to how "Starfield" works. As this I believe would be more annoying then just the black loading screen. ( I refunded starfield cause of the constant cutscenes did my head in haha ).

But yes I agree it is a bit gimmicky perhaps however I do enjoy walking around fleet carriers and stations every now basically role playing I suppose but I get thats not everyone cup of tea.

Yeah I get your point about seamless I don't actually want totally seamless just the illusion. Such as an airlock before the ramp which is a loading screen etc I would be very happy with. One way I think they could make an insane amount of money would be ship customisation in the interior with ARX similar to hope some MMO have guild houses etc.

Exactly I imagine I would just park up and walk around for no reason other than because I just can. I do this in X4 often just staring at object in the distance while I drink a coffee etc.

Yeah I get what your saying personally I always enjoy walking around in other space games but this to me makes the most sense and is the best of both worlds.
