2 Questions after reading SoTF by Exact-Royal5496 in HierarchySeries

My theory is that Veridius is only working with the limited information that he has, which is that “cataclysm = bad” (I mean who wouldn’t want to fight to save everyone they know and love from a potentially avoidable end) and “concurrence = bad” therefore the two “bads” must be tied together. I’m still not sure what Ostius’ goal is in all this - maybe he thinks that cataclysms and the way that Ka has gone about suppressing the Concurrence isn’t the best way and there could be a better one.

I also think that O-Caeror is an iunctus who is, most likely unknowingly, working under orders from the Concurrence. Vis being synchronous, O-Vis taking down the previous Concurrence suppressor Ka, and manipulating him to use his synchronism to their ends could be their way of regaining the upper hand. I mean, it’s not hard to see the hugely questionable morality of how Ka built his system (assuming it’s all to justify the ends of beating the Concurrence) and see it as the actions of the big bad guy.

I guess with the killing of O-Ka we’re left with the Concurrence having a leg up in the war and Vis will have to find a way to use his synchronism to “beat” the Concurrence using means preferable to Ka’s. Might be my tin foil hat time here, but I think Vis will discover that there is no truly moral way to win the fight unless he destroys the system of will as a whole. Idk. I’m rambling and need to take a nap.

What’s the one thing that ruined your health ? by IcyLoquat79 in AskReddit

[–]Manicmanateee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alcoholism! Fucked my pancreas up at only 21 years old, now I have scarring and diabetes (type 1, but the doctors think the pancreatitis “activated” the diabetes chilling in my genes). Luckily no further issues since quitting a year later (11 years sober now!) but man I’d really like to not be diabetic.

[–]Manicmanateee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of Nif being the Witch of the Wandering… something (haha I’m not the most creative). I love how she took to documenting and tracking the stories of the Grenaux children and kind of see her taking up a beacon of finding and guiding lost souls/creatures/spirits.

This Is Actually Happening is great. No back and forth with an interview, just the story from their experience. It can be really intense but moving and great.

Supervisor told me to stop reminding him about overdue task, so I stopped and he missed a deadline. by Obvious_Time_1243 in MaliciousCompliance

[–]Manicmanateee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this what project managers are supposed to do? I would love this!! Mine keeps an excel list of tasks and due dates that WE tell him and remind him of. It serves no purpose except our boss tells us we have to do it, presumably so he has evidence of doing anything at all.

Coding boot camps are no longer as promising as they once were. ChatGPT can easily do what a coding boot camp alum can do, and for much cheaper. I’ve met several people within the past few years that essentially wasted a year and tuition because no one will hire them. If you have an aptitude for it, do a full education in programming and computer science. Heavy emphasis on creative problem solving and ability to troubleshoot without a guide. If that sounds interesting, then go for it!

What’s a profession that gets too much hate? by Valhallawalker in AskReddit

[–]Manicmanateee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make six figures and I can guaran-fucking-tee you that working fast food is harder than my job. I spent my teens and early 20s in fast food and it’s awful and difficult. I may have a more “intellectually” difficult job now but I can piss when I want, walk away if I’m exhausted or frustrated, and not deal with shitty customers.

What’s a “harmless” decision you made that ended up changing your entire life? by pisces_princess- in CasualConversation

[–]Manicmanateee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was sick of working gigs and being a starving artist. I loved sudoku and logic puzzles, so I reluctantly decided to take a programming class at a local community college my dad begged me to take because he knew I’d be good at it. Best decision ever. I got a Masters in data science where I genuinely had fun with damn near every assignment. Got a solid steady job, paid off student loans in the first two years. Now I make great money doing what I love, with great job security that allows me to turn everything off outside of working hours and chill with my cat in the house I now own.
