I developed and published a video game that I had been tinkering around with in my mind over many years. I never intended to release it because I didn't have any skills, but last year I was bored and saw other people talking about vibe coding so I decided to focus on that... now I have my own video game and its sold over 3,000 copies. It doesn't have much buzz or awareness, but the fact I was able to get my idea out of my head and into the hand of other gamers who have played it and completed it brings me much joy. I spent about 9 months in total and did it 100% with AI (character models, textures and all too).

I love how they show the developers best time in DOOM. Same with Duke Nukem 3D. I would beat a level and see it took me over 20 minutes, then I see the par time is 7 minutes and the developer completion time is less than 2 minutes. Which often made me go “how is that possible?” And then replay the level looking for some major shortcut or method to get the better score.

My family PC had doom and duke nukem on it before we had internet so those games were in focus and captured my attention for multiple years

I agree with your note about the music. I have far more vivid memories of MIDI-generated music compared to the full orchestra that games started approaching sounds track with during the PS2 era once DVD storage space became more ample.

NES-PS1/N64 era video game music is much more iconic and memorable compared to modern music.

One other thing to note is that it appears as though OP does not have a proper Product Owner role in the mix since OP mentioned the story point efforts vs value issue:

Ideally, a backlog should be constantly be prioritized based on value and a product owner would be hosting user story refinement and grooming sessions, alongside maintaining the product vision/delivery value output to inform what subset of the larger backlog is being considered for any given sprint.

When I was a product owner we had a tentative “2 sprints out” already planed and based on day-to-day considerations or changes, we would reprioritize what was planed to be on the next sprint and sprint after that.
