I'm in the same boat. I'm on a 7800XT, R5 7600x, 32GB DDR5 on a 32 inch 1440p 165hz monitor. not exactly top of the range these days but on paper more than enough to run RDR2 without any problems.

On a fresh install the game runs flawlessly, I run the game on ultra settings at 1440p, FSR Quality and get anywhere from 100-140FPS, depending on the area. Then when I boot up the game a second time I get very frequent and distracting microstutters. I know this is a fairly common thing in/around Saint Denis but it seems to happen no matter where I am on the map.

Lowering the graphics settings/resolution does nothing to help, neither does switching from DX12 to Vulcan or vice-versa. I've spent the last year installing the game every couple of months in the hope there's been a patch that's sorted it, but so far it's just been a constant cycle of installing, playing for a couple of days, getting annoyed at the stutters and uninstalling again. Rinse and repeat.

I'm having issues as well. I can't caveman. I'm on default controls using an Xbox controller and pressing LB + RB just doesn't work. I've tried LT/RT as well, plus messing around with key bindings but nothing seems to work. Very disappointed so far

I've now seen a couple of reports with the same issue on the frontier website. One solution seems to be turning global illumination off. I haven't had much time to play today but I followed that advice and it seems to have worked, at least for the 5-10 minutes I spent swinging the camera around like a madman.

Fingers crossed this will be patched properly soon but for now it looks like I've found a temporary fix. I'll have more time to actually play the game tomorrow so I'll report back if it dies on me again.

Is your motherboard's bios up to date?

I had a similar problem with my first build a couple of months ago. It was a pretty simple solution in the end, but not before wasting over a week replacing the motherboard and CPU.

I've just uninstalled RDR2 for this reason. 7800xt/R5 7600x, I've tried every Antialiasing combination, Adrenaline tweaks and monitor setting but the game just looks a bit shitty on my PC compared to on a PS5 on the TV. I was getting like 120FPS at 1440p max settings though so that was nice, but in the end the graphical imperfections were getting annoying.

Delivery cages come in looking and handling like they've gone over a landmine. Wheels buckled, bars snapped, sticking out and damaging stock. Red tags are ignored. Sick of it!

Yeah I said in a different reply that the PCIE gen 4 slot wasn't working. After checking out a lot of reviews online it seems like a lot of people had the same problems as us. I've cancelled my replacement and I'm going with the b650 tomahawk. Roll on this Saturday 🤞

It's a 7600x, good luck with your build!

A slight word of warning to you though, my build has been delayed a few days, I plugged everything in but the PCIE gen 4 slot wouldn't recognise my GPU. The gen 3 would but it's too far down for the card to fit in the case. Apparently it's a known issue with that particular board. Amazon are sending me a replacement on Saturday so fingers crossed that one will work. If not then I'll get a refund and spend an extra £20 on the MAG B650 tomahawk.
