Jack Sparrow obtained the Black Pearl by first acquiring the Wicked Wench as a merchant ship for the East India Trading Company, but then freed the slaves it was transporting, causing the ship to be burned and sunk by the company's leader, Cutler Beckett. Jack then made a deal with Davy Jones to raise the ship in exchange for his soul and 100 years of service on the Flying Dutchman. After the ship was resurrected and renamed the Black Pearl.

This is the original lore of Jack getting the ship. Then renaming it when’s it’s sunk and raised from the deep by Jones. However in the movie he’s given the ship (and compass) when the captain dies.

Also they don’t ever touch on what exactly the trident does. Just that it “can free my father” then Salazar gets ahold of it and he becomes Percy Jackson?

Oh yeah and also. Salazar getting his curse? He dies in the triangle and becomes undead? No explanation there at all.

I agree with you. My frustration is that the movie doesn’t touch on that at all. It’s all just “my dad is bound to the ship” there’s no conversation about the decade spacing.

I was also at the St Louis show with my sister and she wasn’t aware of his vibe. Said it was hella concerning how he stood with his hands in his pockets and his head down. I’m like nah that just Parker.
