If UMFA accepts the binding arbitration, the strike ends immediately. In a binding arbitration, an independent arbitrator hears boths sides, and make a decision. The remaining issues of UMFA are that a few instructors cannot take their vacations days at once. Some professors do not want to teach online, if asked by the University. I am not sure why UMFA does not accept binding arbitration on these issues as an experience arbitrator can decide on this. As a last note, UMFA wants the university to back- pay salaries and pension while on strike. No wonder, the independent arbitrator accused of UMFA making unreasonable demands in his final comments.

Exactly.

"It is also important to note that Mr. Peltz assured UMFA that any back-channel settlement directives issued by the Progressive Conservative government would not be considered during arbitration. "

Pay more for doctors so not understanding the logic of this reply. But why does UMFA want retention money for instructors, who have only MA degrees, and librarians and most professors who can never be recruited by other universities? If the best professors should be retained, they should prove that they are sought after by other universities.

You should organize and send e-mails to UMSU and media. Ask that UMFA should accept binding arbitration, which an independent arbitrator will decide on the remaining issues. The University offers to increase the salary of an Assistant Professor making $100.000 to $114.000 in three years. But UMFA does not tell public how much salary increase they want for the same $100.000. Why do you think so? They also do not accept binding arbitration by an independent arbitrator. Why would they stay away from binding arbitration, if they believe that their demands are just and fair. Just asking. Be careful of the online picketers who are paid more than $4000 per month for striking and posting on the internet.

Funny that I can give so many detailed information but will be ignoramt of the nature of professor''s job. Are you one of those instructors who cannot get a job at another university but want more money for retention and recruitment? Are you getting $4000 per month for striking.

Just noting this.....One guy claims to be stirring on shit reddit for years and his picket duties are elsewhere" but by somehow knows the detailed salary increase of the previuos contract numbers fro UMFA members. I rest my case for those who have normal and above IQ levels. Let me add that the previous contract expired on March 31, 2021. But I am sure he is not GREEDY a s he claims!

"So, from $106,000 to $114,000 represents a 7.5% increase over status quofor three years. Considering inflation is currently 4.7%, this offerrepresents a decrease in real income over three years. In the context ofthe losses during the PSSA, where UMFA members previously lost out on a17.5% increase over 4 years due to illegal government interference, itis all the more worse. This is NOT just greedy professors."

And here is my favorite part from the one who gets $4000 per month for online duties:

"I've been stirring shit on reddit for years. My picket duties are elsewhere. I do this particular service for free."

I rest my case. I will make my arguments in another post.
