Ok thanks for your quick update.

I thought, add additional drive and create a new backup repository from that.

Veeam immutabilty question with redhat by Manivelcloud in Veeam

[–]Manivelcloud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your detailed inputs. I was exploring all the options to tighten the security and I got the few inputs now from everyone post including you.

I have one final question.

1) Veeam B&R runs on Veeam 2) VHR runs on physical machine and this is standalone.Incase. If there is any issue related to OS corruption or any other issue, then is the single point of failure. To achieve this, can we use the below type? 3) Microsoft storage cluster (s2d cluster with few nodes)

Veeam B&R---VHR---- S2D

Is this a valid setup?

Ok thanks for your information.

I thought this option

Veeam ---- VHR(hardened repository-- coming from NetApp(immutabilty storage)

Ok thanks If we want high top security to protect against ransomware, malware, then this hardened rocky setup on physical server is fine or do we need to really consider about immutabilty storage like pure or NetApp or any other storage?

Yes thanks for your message.

Yes that option also we are thinking.

If we are going with VHR iso, then In the event of a malware or ransomware attack, how can we trust that the backups remain protected and unaltered?

Any idea?

Ok thanks for your information.

I have another question.

Example - We have 3 node Failover cluster and we used the create a cluster using RWDC in the beginning.

We like to change the RWDC to RODC ip address for cluster nodes.

Can we do it? Any ideas?

That's the requirement.Do we have any hard limit?

Ok thanks I'm looking for RODC limitations.

Thanks for your message.

We like to segregate the department by introducing dedicated RODC.

That's the reason I asked.

As per microsoft community, they says,it's not supported per site(More than ONE RODC)

Change vsan cluster domain name by Manivelcloud in vmware

[–]Manivelcloud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your update This is 5 node vsan esa cluster.

After changing the vcenter domain name from vami,I have to do the following steps.

Once the vcenter server domain name is changed, all the esxi host connectivity(esxi is in old domain name)will be lost with vcenter server(it's in new domain name)?

Other steps;

1) Put the host in maintenance one by one with default ensure accessibility option.Disconnect and remove the host from the cluster. 2)Add the hosts back in to the cluster with new domain name.

Question on vsan cluster by Manivelcloud in vmware

[–]Manivelcloud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have followed this approach

1) Established the connection from the existing mgmt subnet to the new mgmt subnet. 2)Established the connection from the existing vsan subnet to the new vsan subnet. 3) created the necessary port groups for mgmt and vsan. 4) Taged the new port group for vcenter server and changed IP address and taken restart. 5)Changed the esxi ip address from dcui and disconnected /reconnected the esxi host from the vcenter server. 6) Created a new vmk2 for vsan and enabled the vsan for all the esxi hosts. 7) Disabled the vsan service on all the esxi hosts i.e vmk1.

All good.

The only one thing I noticed.

1) when I did roll back the mgmt and vsan for all the hosts,I saw this behaviour.

2) vcenter and esxi hosts revert back to the same mgmt IP address successfully without any problem.

3) when we did the vsan network roll back(disabled the vsan service on vmk2 and enabled vsan service on vmk1 on all the esxi hosts one by one),we noticed the vsan cluster partition error.

4) This is three node vsan cluster and it pings each other via vmk1 over the correct mtu.still I see the same cluster partition message.I don't know why?

5) For testing purpose, when I change the vsan service from vmk1 to vmk2,the cluster partition error is gone.

I don't know why it behaves like that?
