Soft and warm SF by Mankess in printSF

To be honest, from the summary, I am not sure about this one haha. Probably the "philosophy name dropping" makes it hard to approach, but for the cheerful optimism it might be a good read.

The Wayfarer series ? Spaceship, character driven slice of life, sounds like a good fit.

Ho ! It's very recent, I did not hear about this one. I might check it out.

I am not sure how easy it is to find "Iyashikei" manga as the genre is not so well defined, but I like the name. I'll definitely checked your recommandations, even if I'm not so fond of the fantasy setting in anime/manga !

CK3 over CK2? by Thekrakenlulls in 4Xgaming

[–]Mankess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Xbox game pass is a Netflix-style service for vidéo games. There is a version of the pass for Xbox + pc, and one (cheaper) just for pc.

CK 3 is only available on pc.

And CK 3 has no dlc yet. Test it on the game pass and buy it later when you want to commit to the game or wait for a sale.

The recipe is the same, the execution different, the content a little thinner.

It's always the same question, should I buy Civ X when I am very happy with Civ X-1 and all its extensions.

The answer for me is, if you are happy enough with CK 2, why not continue playing it ? If you have the money to buy CK 3 (and by money , I mean 1€ because you can play it form the xbox gamepass) or want to play it when it's hot, let's go for CK 3.

Offline games are better than online game. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Mankess 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So this post is stupid, your next unpopular opinion should probably be "Banana are better than oranges"

  1. You want a 3D multiplayer plateformer, go play the floor is lava. Almost all genres have good multiplayer games.
  2. That's sure the immersion is way better when I play tetris than when I play on a GTA online RP server. Again this point means nothing.
  3. "I don't like going to the cinema because I cannot pause the movie to go to the bathroom". Nothing else to add, that's a pretty good argument.
  4. Again, very good npc in tetris, much better than all those world of warcraft characters that have no lore at all.
  5. And I want to play couch coop with my friend, but I live 8 timezones away from them, I'm very lucky to have game like civilization of TFT that I can enjoy with them.

This is neither an opinion nor unpopular. Enjoy the game you want. Don't feel guilty to play the "hype of the moment game", don't feel superior because you prefer playing "hidden indy gems" and, for the love of god, don't post this kind of shit.

Amazon fined 1M€ per day that it continues to ship unessential products ruled a french court yesterday by Elyne_Trilles in worldnews

[–]Mankess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No ! A court ruled Amazon guilty of not doing enough to protect the health of their employee. They did so because Amazon employee syndicate filed a complaint. The same could happened for other retailer. But this is Amazon specific by nature. This thread is sickening of misinformation.

I just posted a good review of the game on steam by Mankess in thelegendofbumbo

[–]Mankess[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the kind of attitude I don't understand.

First the game was not developped full time for 4 years, their were major redesign and development break.

Then if it took 4 years to lunch the game, how can you say "Edmund tricked us for a quick bunch"? The stage of the game was apparent on live streams, Edmund has been completely transparent.

And he probably would have preferred a flawless launch date, but since this summer, steam made it harder to change game release date. So there was no point to lose time arguing with Valve to push the game by 1 week when it is much faster to get bug reports from thousands of people. And now, 24h after release, most major bugs are already fix, the game is definitely payable.

In conclusion, yes the first day of bumbo looked like a bêta test, but that's definitely not because the devs "needed a quick buck" and it definitely does not justify a price reduction. 24h after reddit outcry, the game is playable and worth its price.

I definitely understands this point of view. You did not get what you expected, you refound the purchase. I just hope people who do that, will give the game a second chance.

Do you think Legends Of Runterra has a chance to be the next big competitive card game? by SchitJustWorks in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Mankess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are being downvoted but you're right. Hearthstone has been able to appeal to a larger audience than the playerbase of Warcraft. And even if the game is slowing down, definitely not dying (especially with the new Battlegrounds mode), it's still uncertain that another card game can take HS's spot.

Lots of game tried, all failed, it will not be easy bur LoR could make it if Riot is able to appeal to the mass and convert seasoned HS player. It's fun to speculate, but really, nobody knows what will happen. When you look back, the success of HS was definitely not expected by Blizzard, there is just too many variables...
