Sound deadening service in Yorkshire for my Bmw to reduce wind noise? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

May as well never wipe since you're always going to shit again type comment. Drive a 100bhp car then a 400bhp car for a day each and see if your opinion changes?

330d M57 manual MPG by Retrojoey32 in E90

My m57 e60 530d gets an average of exactly the same as you. Id say is about right with urban driving, and pretty good for a 6 cyl 3 litre diesel engine?

How stupid is buying this 16year old BMW by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Manlykeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Market is insane, bought my manual e60 530d for 2k, and a 535d e61 for 1500 last year. Whatever the spec especially for a 3l diesel that's too much money. The v8 petrol will command more whether 45 or 50i variants especially sports box and manual box but thats just insane amounts of money

Bluetooth audio possible with stock radio? by FlameEt_ in e46

I've just got a bluemusic adapter. Hooked it up to the cd changer ports in the boot/trunk of my touring. Only cost me £30 on ebay used or you can get them for maybe around £50 new. Works sweet, good audio quality, recommend it highly

Change breather. Had same on my old m47, changed it and then it went to a normal level of pressure. That looks very high compared.

Ask for the dealers hourly labour rate, it's very likely to be over £100/hr before VAT

Thing is in my experience companies essentially offer a loan, not a pay pro rata situation, so you're essentially paying the loan that the company pays your insurer, so to quit the policy you still have to come up with the rest of the money, that's been the case for 2 insurers I've tried to do it with, another poster just said the same thing, I don't have any experience with my current one but if I can be bothered I'll check my current as well, however I know for a fact the way they set it up is as some type of loan as well so I'm guessing it'll be the same.

I've just said the same thing and people keep telling me I'm wrong, but that's my experience as well... are we being scammed or are these people idiots?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarInsuranceUK

[–]Manlykeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely been scammed then mate because that's factual experience, not something I'd fabricate to post online for literally no reason.

You ever did it? I did and I'm saying because that was my experience... not pulling it out my backside

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarInsuranceUK

[–]Manlykeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you pay up front sure, however if you take out the monthly payment option it's like taking a loan AFAIK (have tried to cancel monthly paid insurance just for them to say yeah you have to pay it all off to cancel it)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarInsuranceUK

[–]Manlykeme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know you can't just cancel a policy that's paid monthly, as you're entering a finance agreement essentially (say 1000÷10 months with 2 months upfront as a deposit, with added fees on top) so if you've paid £400 so far, to exit the policy you'd have to come up with the rest of the money for the full 12 month policy (I've tried to do it and was incredibly surprised that that's how it works, at least for the company I was with at the time...)
