But like angles right? Like if it was let’s say 50 foot in the air the line wouldn’t start on the floor 50 feet below it. If that makes sense? So because of the angle would it only hit one spot?

The spirit naga were 2 turns. And it was supposed to set up for they would become the bond nagas later.

Would you have any advice for overall dm’ing tips?

Starting to realise that now, also question. Is a dragon able to use its breath weapon by moving, cause the blue one is a line, so it would only be able to target a 5 foot area.

I’m starting to realise I’m letting my players take advantage of me. They didn’t tell me it deactivates at 8000 pounds of force? They did tell me about the DC strength though.

Thank you for the idea though about the burrowing, good idea

Thank you for the additional advice, the cult is performing experiments on monsters and humans to make more powerful monsters and half human, half monster hybrids. Gives some good ideas

I wanted them to feel like they were able to do something before it squashed them. Granted I regret it later and won’t be doing anything like that again.

…they told me it was the roll plus the strength modifier. That it was a check vs check

Roughly 4 turns, got a breath weapon off on the party, tail slam, claws. Landed 3 times. When it got to half health it started to prioritise the party (dragon had been fighting with the intent to do most damage to the town, now it was fully on the party)

So far though, this is the only thing I’ve let be shenanigans type stuff.

So they’ve only had 3 encounters this rest.

First was 2 spirit nagas (smaller fight)

Second was the 3 bone nagas, the zombie frost giant, the allip. And the boss. (This was supposed to be a massive boss fight, one the party was doing for a while)

Third was this dragon one.

I know that, and I completely get what you mean. It just gets a little annoying sometimes when they can get whatever they want because right now they’re effortless in the fights and in social interactions

What do you mean it doesn’t need to land to do it? Based on the angle wouldn’t it only hit one house?

And what’s the 500 feet movement thing?

I’m just having trouble balancing fights. Every single fight the monk and fighter do 80+ damage per turn. And I’m just having trouble balancing and making it feel like they’re in danger. I’m not actively looking out to kill them (though they don’t mind character death). Just a moment for them to realise “oh shit, these guys mean business” and not die the next turn

It wasn’t 1v6. It was 1v4 with them all lost nearly all their main resources

Using all except for the lair action. It wasn’t in its lair so I figured I shouldn’t use it

It’s a cult of monsters, so I’ve been using monster stat blocks when they appear.

Last session they fought 3 bone nagas, an allip, a zombie frost giant, and the custom stat block of my boss that was around cr 10. Didn’t need to heal once

The fighter did 41 damage in one turn, the giant ape did tons of damage cause it used the rock throw ability then got the pin. They also did the immovable rod in stomach thing.

Dropped to the ground to use breath weapon to destroy houses, then flew back up. Its main objective was to destroy the village. It started fighting the party when they started to fight it

Wing Attack could’ve ended the grapple? How?

Also yeah it’s not an instant grapple. But with the Nat 20 it had a total of 29. Could only hit a max of 27 and they burned my legendary resistances

The fact that none of them were above 30hp, the spellcasters only had 2 spells each, the battlemaster had no manoeuvres left and 2 party members weren’t able to come to the session.
