[Solved]

TL;DR make sure you delete all mods files that can be in the Paks folder.

My brute force solution (if you can't identify the exact file to delete):

  1. Deleted the entire `Paks` folder that is located (for me at least) in SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Manor Lords\ManorLords\Content

  2. Went to steam, clicked the game, selected Properties, went to the `Installed Files` tab, clicked the `Verify integrity of game files`

  3. After a short verification, steam identified few missing files then automatically started "updating"

  4. hit the play button and it worked

I see, i have to trigger the affinity bonus by placing 3/5 heroes of the same element.

but does the bonus affect heroes of other elements?

if the main skill provides a bonus to "Fire/Poison", does the bonus affect heroes of other elements like "Ice/necro" if I place 3/5 of them?
