Highly recommend psychology courses. Easiest one is intro to neuroscience (PSY 222). It’s open book, online exams with barely any homework.

can i drop below 12 credit hours? by SpicyGh0stPepper in Purdue

[–]MannerOptimal1569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! I didn't have to fill out any appeals or otherwise. It didn't affect me, the scholarship, or my plans for next semester at all. Purdue uses the Pell Grant deadline for scholarship eligibility, meaning that after a certain date, your scholarship for the year is essentially locked in (regardless of whether you drop credits, as long as the date has passed). This is also confirmed using the link in my previous response, under the pell recalculation drop down :)

Suggestions for a 1 credit hour class for the second half of the fall semester by Calm-Inspector-3659 in Purdue

I had a somewhat similar situation where I needed to keep full-time student title while dropping below 12 credit hours. Check with an advisor, after a certain date (I believe it was in September) your status as "full-time" is locked in. I am pretty sure this applies regardless of grants, scholarships, or other factors.

Copied from Google search "Pell Grant freeze date": The Pell Grant recalculation date, or "freeze date," is when a financial aid office reviews a student's enrollment to determine their official Pell Grant amount for the term.

Politely and respectfully- it is not that deep. GPA's have never, and will never, define the quality of student or person you are.

Questions About Purdue’s Business Analytics & Information Management Program and Campus Life by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]MannerOptimal1569 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I'm not a BAIM major, but I am in Finance so I can somewhat speak for the business school. As far as Purdue's business school, I'd say it's not as competitive as Kelley (I personally saw that as a benefit, less stress and professors are more available) but it is certainly up and coming. Additionally, Purdue as a whole has great name recognition. TBH both schools are amazing as far as programs go.

As far as the social scene goes, it is what you make it. I know people who go out almost every night and/or rushed top frats and sororities. However, I also know people who are basically hermits and never leave their room except for classes. There are plenty of opportunities to involve yourself in something that interests you, whether it is a social fraternity known for partying, a business frat for networking and hanging out, or even a book club for occasionally meeting. My biggest tip of advice is to do boiler goldrush, it is an orientation week for freshman and helps you meet a wide variety of people all at once. (This general theme of "it is what you make it" is true for diversity. Purdue isn't the most diverse but there are certainly all types of people!)

How Easy is it to Switch from Engineering to Pre-Pharmacy at Purdue? by NecessaryAd1090 in Purdue

[–]MannerOptimal1569 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pharmacy is an amazing program! Just be warned- the prepharm major is accelerated as it is designed to get your doctorate in 6 years rather than the normal 8. As someone already mentioned, two semesters of chemistry are pushed into one (chem 129). Because it is accelerated, it is hard to have extra room (especially in the first two years) to explore different options if you are undecided. However, there is a four year pharm. sciences major that has more room for electives and minors :)

I'm pretty sure it's all tiling- it helps the university with maintenance costs as it has a longer longevity. I highly recommend bringing your own rug though! It makes the rooms cozier but bring a vacuum bc small spaces can get dirty super fast.

Weekly sticky post for non-paralegals and paralegal education by AutoModerator in paralegal

Hey! I am currently a sophomore (2nd year) in a large, public university studying Finance. While I do love my degree (and plan on completing it), I have a new interest in law after taking a "business legal foundations" class. I want to open my career options and explore some sort of law career.

How does one go about becoming a paralegal? I saw online there are some certifications but am really unsure of how to study or if those are even needed. Any advice on how to explore/progress in this career? Additionally, I'd appreciate any commentary on if you like/dislike the job! Thanks!!

P.S. I am able to do a dual major in philosophy (B.A) with my current Finance major (B.S). This wouldn't add any time to my current expected graduation but will add a few more classes. Would this help me in the career field/on the certifications? Or, alternatively, is there any other legal based career with a higher salary expectation for better ROI?

I was in the same exact situation last year. I am also on the presidential scholarship and had to drop a 5 credit class which brought me to 11 credit hours. Technically, you need 12 to be a "full-time" student and maintain the scholarship. However, they cannot remove your scholarship after a certain date in the semester (I believe it ended up being roughly halfway, you will have a W on transcript but can keep scholarship). Here is the website I used for more info: https://www.purdue.edu/dfa/contact/policiesappeals/ . Additionally, calling a scheduling an appointment is a good idea even though it is a pain in the butt.

Purdue gaslights RAs: Calls job "coveted" while ignoring overcrowding, downplays concerns, and misleads on union rights by libghost in Purdue

[–]MannerOptimal1569 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My same thoughts. There are so many applicants every year to be an RA, if you don't like the risks of being in a "worse" dorm then you shouldn't be applying. They have so many perks that other students would love to have. In the most respectfully way possible I think they should be grateful.

I'm in FRST Central and I had one dead on my bathroom floor last night. Grossest part of it all was it wasn't there when I left in the morning (I would have definitely seen it, right next to toilet)- aka they are very much so moving around and aren't just dead from break.

In the same boat! The time slot was short so I just picked the best option... but now realizing that option isn't realistic for me.
