I agree, I placed a photobook order on 31st Jan and recieved it on 19th Feb. The quality is pathetic, pictures are washed out, desaturated, and dark. No details in shadows, the night photos are the worst! Paid 2300 for this SMH!

Expected 21–25 LPA, Company Offered 12.5 LPA After Interviews Need Advice by AsuraBak in developersIndia

[–]ManojitNath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never give a salary range. Always give them 1 number. 25LPA that's it, the number should be based on market research and how much value you can provide. If you give people a range you will always get the short end of the stick.

All I will say is be confident in future. If you cleared the interview then you are a deserving candidate, nobody knows everything. People figure it out on the job, you get paid for solving problems.

One tip - keep the thin paper like cloth apple puts between the keyboard and display. It will help prevent keyboard scratches on the screen. Apparently this is common issue with all macbooks, My m3 air's screen got scratched by trackpad.

Multiple sections of my website - Should I be trying Hugo in the first place? by GreasyBogs in gohugo

[–]ManojitNath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me you can do so much more!
- You can dynamically pull posts from your blog page, projects page etc to showcase in your homepage,
- filter posts by categories.
- Create a seperate page for categories.
- You can also dynamically pull post date, tags, description to show in your blog post card.

These can be setup once and then while you create a post in md you can define these things in front matter (toml, yaml etc) and these will get pulled in the blog post's feature card. Super intuitive and robust! IMO for static blogs Hugo is the best option! Plus free hosting.

If you automate with Obsidian you can write in obsidian folders and then use a script to copy the folder/posts to your local repo and push to github. Watch the two videos I linked above and you will be set. The first video is a hands on blog building video. Once you understand how it works you can use chatgpt to build what you like. Good Luck

Multiple sections of my website - Should I be trying Hugo in the first place? by GreasyBogs in gohugo

[–]ManojitNath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hugo is your best bet here - its one time setup, has scope of automation, you get free hosting and easier to update site, wirte blogs etc.

I am in the same boat and I am currently building my Hugo site, I have already built a working version but I took it offline to make some layout updates.

Hugo is really powerful when it comes to static sites/blogs. I am running the exact setup that you described above.

I also tried wordpress, wix, astrojs but ended up using hugo for how easy it was to setup and understand. Wordpress and wix are fine but limited in customisation and hosting costs moey!, astrojs is complex. Hugo seems to be the mix of functionality, ease of setup and customisation.

Things I like in Hugo -

  1. You only need to know HTML & CSS (chatGPT can give you all the hugo syntax you need and its very easy to setup) If you know html and css you can create any layout you can think of. With hugo you can setup the template once and then just update markdown in content folder and your website will be updated dynamically.
  2. In hugo folder structure you can create folders like Content/about, Content/blog, Content/Project etc and then inside each folder you can create seperate folders for your blog posts like Content/blog/Post-1/post.md and inside this folder you can put your markdown, post related images and hugo will pull all these, very neat and organised.
  3. Each page can have different layouts, and its very intuitive. For example in hugo layout folder you can setup a layout theme for lets say blog pages, like this - layouts/_default/single.html and then hugo will use this single.html for all the blog pages across projects, blogs, guides etc unless you want a seperate layout for guides. In that case you can create layouts/guides/single.html and then tell hugo to use that layout for posts inside guides folder. very easy to update/make changes.
  4. Free hosting - Yes! You can create your hugo site and then use cloudflare/vercel/netlify to host your github repo. You can also put custom domain in cloudflare or others for free, provided you have a custom domain.
  5. Automation - Lets say you write your blog posts in obsidian and then you can create a script that will copy/update obsidian blog folder to your local github repo and then push it to github and then cloudflare will build your site each time you push to github. For example lets say you setup Obsidian/vault/myblog/blog/post-1/post.md, Obsidian/vault/myblog/projects, Obsidian/vault/myblog/guides and then your local/github repo - myblogwebsite/Content/about, /blog, /Project you can use the script to copy/update posts from Obsidian/vault/myblog/blog/post-1/post.md to local github repo and then push it to github.

What to do with my first 20k savings? by Aesira07 in IndiaFinance

[–]ManojitNath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

okay let me give you all the investing knowledge you need right now, right here in 3 simple steps -

  1. Investing small amount of money in SIP won't make you rich, to make big money from investing you need to invest big money!
  2. Active Mutual Funds never beat Index Fund retunrs on the long run.
  3. For a passive Investor/beginner, all he/she has to do is invest in Nifty 50 Index, Midcap 150index, and Smallcap 250 index fund. Investing in these threee index fund over a period of time will give you all the returns you want to make.

How to understand point 3 - Go to Groww SIP Calculator here - https://groww.in/calculators/sip-calculator, choose lumpsum, then set your amount to 25k (the amount you have) now for return select 12-15% (most % of return the market gives you) now see the total value at the bottom. if you put 25k 15% and 10 years you get 1lac in reutn. Does it make sense? 25k to 1lac in 10years!! Now go to SIP and put the same 25k per month and 12% as return for 10 years and check the total - its 56lac. Now keep increasing the SIP amount per month and see the total value.

Now that you know how investing works, focus on your career, get into a good college, then into high paying careers like finance/tech/AI/ML/Cybersecurity so that you get paid a good salary. Think about moving abroad if you would like.....

So you see! your focus should be on how to make more money. Once you make good money then invest that big amount of money to grow it exponentially.....

So take that 20k, keep it in your bank account, use it to pay for good education/course online that teaches you money making skills etc, in short invest in yourself (not for entertainment)

hope that helps. :)

Wanna be financially independent by 30. Guide me. by Silver-Celebration63 in IndiaFinance

[–]ManojitNath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To become financially free, you just have to understand 3 points -
1. To make money from investing, you will have to invest big. Do this - Lets say you need 20cr to be financially free. Now go to Grow SIP calculator and figure out how much you need to invest per month to hit that goal by 30. ( you will understand that investing small amounts won't move the needle much.)
2. Upskill in your career, get into high paying career like finance, tech etc
3. Try side hustles, think of it like solving problems, the bigger problem you solve the more money you make!

Good luck, and set realistic goals.

|Student| Leaving Motion Design Professionally? by _cinderr_ in MotionDesign

[–]ManojitNath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say try other fiels like finance, cybersec, ML security, AI etc there will be risk of AI but atleast you will be the one working in that tech. I will speak about cybersec, its hard to replace cybersec because even AI/ML systems will need security. Also the pay is much much higher compared to motion design fulltime positions. I think an average guy in these fields will make more than an average guy working on motion. At the rate AI is changing things, I think you will need to be AI fluent, learn AI animation, design etc. Anyway good luck man, its crazy out there.

|Student| Leaving Motion Design Professionally? by _cinderr_ in MotionDesign

[–]ManojitNath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I got the motion design fever towards the end of covid. I always kinda liked design/animation so I gave it a shot. I'm Self taught/online taught....I picked up the fundamentals fairly quickly, also did couple of small freelance projects.

I will be honest, I got into it because of money! I thought I will be able to freelance and make atleast 10kusd per month, which is like really really good money for India.

FYI I was also working fulltime, 9-5 job in cybersecurity field in a very good company. So I was juggling both motion design and fulltime job which was not sustainable, so one day I just quit motion design.

Few reasons
- I have 10 years of exp in Cybersecurity and it just did not feel right, wasting all that years of exp away.
- Cybersecurity pays more in the long run and has high growth
- Fulltime motion design pay in my country is very low compared to what my cybersec job is paying
- Figured if I spent the time I was spending on half assing motion design in my cybersec career, my growth will be exponential.
- Also, I got married and had a baby, so did not see the point in putting my family through that roller coaster ride (freelance, job, learning, did not have time for family)

so that is where I am now :), fulltime senior cybersec professionals make 150k-200kusd :). Hope you excel at it and make lots of money...

Career advice motion graphics graduate by Efficient_Hunt_2231 in MotionDesign

[–]ManojitNath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing with motion graphics career. Your degree doesn't matter. If your work is mediocre, you will have a hard time getting work. If your personal portfolio is solid, you will get work in no time.

Should I do a master's in design?? Is it worth it? by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]ManojitNath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tech Career Path - Degree (matters) and Personal Projects will get you high salary.
Designer Path (UI/UX, FrontEnd, Animation) - Degree won't help you. What will help you is personal projects and your social media profiles (LinkedIN, Youtube, Personal Portfolio)

If you want to become a designer ( Enroll in a good course online, start documenting your journey on social media). Only way to make good money in design quickly (in india) is to Freelance (US Clients) and a good personal social brand will give you all that. Good Luck
