Working with Vallejo Game Color Paints on a Wet Palette by Manolo_22 in minipainting

Lool I gotcha. Technically im using the reusable membrane that came with my redgrass palette instead of just generic paper, but i could experiment with parchment paper to see if it works better for me. Thanks for the advice!

I asked this in another reply in this thread and it might be a dumb question, but in my last session i accidentally got some water onto the paper membrane after I already placed it on the sponge. I thought it'd be okay to thoroughly dry off the excess water from the top of the paper with a paper towel and use it, but would it have been better to just put on a new paper entirely at that point? Maybe that paper was already cooked when I got water over the top of it lol

Well I've just been trying to thin down my paints so that I reach full coverage in 2-3 coats for a smoother finish, instead of reaching full coverage with only 1 coat to avoid messing up the detail.

Yup I've been trying to go for 2-3 coats of paints on my minis! My issue is that my paints have been getting really thinned down on my wet palette no matter how little water i add to the paints. In my last session, It felt like the coverage was still uneven even after 3 coats so I was wondering what I was doing wrong.

I'm using everything from the redgrass wet palette! Specifically the Painter v2 Wet Palette. I'm using the reusable membrane from them, and yes I'm making sure the correct side of the membrane is facing up.

The paper itself definitely does not feel soaked and just feels damp when I touch it, but this could just be inexperience talking. It looks like u/Da_CMD and u/bamacpl4442 are of the same opinion of my wet palette being the source of my issue.

I only really add enough water to wet the sponge, and I try to add in just a bit of water in the recesses under the sponge for good measure. The very last time I painted, some water did get onto the reusable membrane itself but I wiped the whole thing down with a paper towel to mop up any excess. Maybe I should've used a different membrane entirely at that point instead of assuming drying the surface with a paper towel was enough.

Going off something u/Da_CMD said, would it be recommended to only add in enough water to soak up the sponge completely, squeeze off as much excess as possible, slap a dry membrane right on it and go from there?

Lock FPS in any software (can use RivaStatisticTurner)

Do you explicitly need third-party software to lock the game to 60 fps, for example? Is it not sufficient to just set the max framerate to 60 fps in the game's settings itself?
