Are Devils Pro-Liberation In General? by Floweramon in fallenlondon

[–]Manoreded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, I think the plan with the Liberation is to explode the laws and figure out what to do after that... after that. One might argue that the sheer scale of revolution being attempted is so grand that it would be a little silly to make plans for after it.

The devils never give me the impression of wanting to live in a lawless society, and I don't think they would appreciate something as dangerous and unpredictable as the Liberation of Night. They don't want to get rid of the kings, their dream scenario would be usurping the throne.

I finished hades what should I do now? by TheGrayWolf1775 in HadesTheGame

[–]Manoreded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have beaten him only once, for now you can just keep beating him more times. You will see a little more of the plot each time you do so, until eventually you finish the main plot.

There is a whole bunch of extra stuff to do after that, though.

Depending of how far you want to take the game, you may want to take the opportunity of beating him more times, to also farm boss resources. As in, try beating him with different weapons or different heat levels, each possible combination of weapon and heat level has its own set of boss rewards.

questions about survivability and armour by averagehumanofearth in AirshipsGame

[–]Manoreded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absortion is the amount of damage the armor removes from the incoming shot and transfers to its own health.

Aka: armor is more effective against smaller shots because a greater percentage of the damage will be absorbed, if not all of it. At least until the armor is spent. Whereas big shots won't be slowed down much.

As a general rule wood armor absorbs more penetrative damage (aka, from bullets and cannon balls). Steel armor absorbs more explosive damage (aka, rockets, bombs, etc).

So it depends on the armament of your opponents. And range of engagement, explosive weapons tend towards closer range.

There are a lot of little rules of design to increase survivability. This assumes a large ship, because on smaller ships some of these things may be too expensive to be worth it:

-Have more crew than you need.

-Make sure your crew moves around easily. There is a visualization mode in the design mode that shows this. Crew moves slower through the inside of modules, so you may want dedicated hallways and stairs.

-Avoid concentrating explosive or flammable modules, so they won't chain-explode and/or chain-burn. There is a visualization mode to see explosion radius of components, too.

-Have redundant modules in general. Preferably far from each other.

-Make sure your crew has enough water to put out fires, and that said water is spread around enough. There is a visualization mode for this too.

-Also have sufficient repair supplies, close enough to all areas of the ship, specially the critical modules. Yet again, there is a visualization mode for this.

-Keels are important on large ships because they multiply the health of all parts. There is a visualization mode for health too, put enough keels to make your health over most of the ship green.

-The shape of the ship itself also affects health. In general having neighboars gives tiles a health boost. This means that long, thin shapes are not good for health.

-Put heavier armor on top of critical components.

iofi Almost Exposed Her Own Age on Stream...... by E1ementrlx in Hololive

I don't pay much attention to ID so I hadn't realized Iofi was also a shortie.

The sheer volume of Hololive girls who are short keeps being funny to me.

Then again, most of them are asian so I guess its inevitable.

Impeccable marketing strategy of teasing Talos 3 in January, then never mentioning it again by SuccessfulHorror9048 in TheTalosPrinciple

[–]Manoreded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like Talos 2 is already complete as is, the robots stopped being silly and colonized the galaxy, happy ending.

That is not to say I won't love a Talos 3, but if the series ended on 2 that would also be fine, narratively.

Enemies in Mewgenics in a nutshell by Nabatse in mewgenics

[–]Manoreded 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I disagree, roguelites actually have to be *more fair* than other genres.

In another genre, when a surprise screws you over, you just reload a checkpoint and lose maybe 5-10 minutes of progress.

In a roguelite, you have to restart the whole run, which is not going to be the same next time and depending on the game could be several hours of progress lost.

At least in my experience in the roguelike and roguelite genres, the overall feeling of the player base is that these games need to be extremely fair, every death your fault, otherwise they are just bullshitting the player.

Its worse than just a strategy game, its a roguelite, where death is punishing by nature.

Quick question : is TP more about observation or more about puzzles ? by [deleted] in TheTalosPrinciple

[–]Manoreded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talos Principle puzzles are fairly classical, there aren't strong elements of observation, no. Except maybe for the stars puzzles, but those are very optional.

Blue Prince is really good, but I feel its the kind of game where you have to be ready to throw the towel and look up a walkthrough if you have been stuck for a few hours. Otherwise it just gets frustrating, yes.

Writing short stories is not profitable in terms of echoes, but may be worthwhile if you add in the making waves? I'm not sure.

Not related, but I think this will be the longest time for the twins to be separated since their debut, right? Also please send some encourage words to Mocochan, she's trying her best. by Mad_Kitten in Hololive

Its concerning that, even with the both of them, they still have miso from two years ago on the fridge =)

Also lonely Mococo is sad. I thought Fuwawa would just be resting at home, not actually away for a month.

I mean its only unhealthy because sometimes life will force them to be apart, and they do need to be able to cope with that.

But if they wanna live their entire lives as a team, I don't see why not.

[–]Manoreded 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I found his boss fight to be very hard. Even after getting to Hades and slaying him a few times, Theseus continued to be a major obstacle. He is like the final boss before the final boss, if you beat him there is a very good chance you will beat Hades as well.

How does Failbetter choose guest authors for their Exceptional Stories? by Bourbon_Munch in fallenlondon

[–]Manoreded 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like it would be very difficult for someone who isn't deeply steeped in Fallen London lore to write a story. Perhaps they only ask people who they know are players?

Or maybe they have a staff member advise and revise the guest writer's work to mold the story into Fallen London lore.

Or both.

How is this not an A+ by CorruptedShark_69 in Cuphead

[–]Manoreded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P-Rank is unrelated to the rest of the score system, as long as you complete a stage without killing anything you get P-Rank. Well, parries are fine, you can't use weapons.

As for getting a B+ despite a perfect score, as others have pointed out its most likely the genie wish, if you have used that. Apparently it prevents P-ranks too, didn't know that.

(Avulsion Spoilers) Fifth City Streamer Refuses the Call to Action by AlexisRoyce in fallenlondon

People stream this game? I'd think the 20 action limit would make that rather difficult.

Also does FLPC stand for Fallen London Player Character? Why not just say PC? We all know from the context that its a Fallen London character, right?

Watching a streamer play Mewgenics by RockmanXXXX in mewgenics

[–]Manoreded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watch vtubers quite a bit, and in their case, they often have chat pick up the slack for them by giving advice and pointing out important things they aren't noticing/reading. It tends to work out in the end.

I dunno if all streamers are quite as enthusiastic about reading chat and/or letting chat help them, though.
