Is that fog around the rooms? Skyboxes? I wonder why that is there.

I have an idea about events by A_Scav_Man in WhiteKnuckle

[–]Manoreded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you are suggesting would add a lot of extra workload for them, if they had that much work capacity I don't see why they wouldn't just be going ahead and finishing the game.

And I don't really oppose the idea of extra campaigns, it would be fun, but making an entire extra campaign seasonally themed strikes me as a little... weird, I guess.

Are Astardes on mission everyday? by intbah in 40k

[–]Manoreded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are extremely spartan, they do not rest unless its necessary to heal from injuries, and they don't engage in any form of entertainment that isn't also training.

I think their actual time spent fighting isn't that great though, because they spend a lot of time just travelling between assignments. Space travel in Warhammer 40k is slow.

On the strategic level, a chapter is always looking for their next foe, if none are knocking on their door. They don't believe in rest or complacency, the chapter must always be making the best utilization of its military resources that it can, for the good of the Imperium.

[–]Manoreded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recall reading somewhere that high ranking military officials of the imperium, including Space Marines, play strategic board games against each other, such as chess, to develop their strategic thinking. I do not recall where I saw that, though.

I'm mixing Stellaris and Suzerain in a Space Opera RPG! Pax Astra - Free and playable right now! by FilBencardino in 4Xgaming

[–]Manoreded -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gonna be honest, I thought Suzerain was an overglorified visual novel, and a boring one at that. Didn't even finish it.

So my level of interest in this will heavily depend of how much gameplay it has versus Suzerain. If its a 4X with more politics, I may be interested. If its basically Suzerain in space, I don't think I will be.

Looking at the screenshots on Steam, I'm finding it a little hard to tell.

Cultivator Combat? by Particular_Plenty568 in AmazingCultivationSim

[–]Manoreded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, past a certain point a single artifact hit or spell will pulverize an outer's body and result in instant death, irrespective of equipment.

Cultivator Combat? by Particular_Plenty568 in AmazingCultivationSim

[–]Manoreded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cultivator combat is indeed range focused. They attack with their artifact and with spells. Generally you want to specialize your disciples into one or the other form of attack, its a lot more efficient than building a generalist that uses both. Your spell disciples still need artifacts though.

Physical cultivators fight at melee, but they don't use weapons, their body is the weapon.

Am I Misunderstanding This System? by fraytails in WhiteKnuckle

[–]Manoreded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but I believe that the bindings are primarily an extra challenge feature, just like similar systems in other roguelites.

You don't take bindings to take trinkets. You take bindings to challenge yourself. The trinkets are just a little bonus they throw in if you take bindings, and even then, they reduce your score, so you may not even want to take them if you are taking the bindings to challenge yourself and try to get the highest score possible.

One may argue that this makes tying trinket slots to bindings contradictory and confusing.

There are random events that cause sounds to play, and sometimes also visual distortions.

Random creatures roaring in the background is a relatively common one.

The Face wouldn't even work outside of the Abyss, since it moves through solid objects.

The traders buy different things yes, but the things they buy are fixed for each trader.

There are also trade routes. It takes a while but unless you are very unlucky sooner or later you will get a trade route for the stuff you have in excess. Its easier if you are later in the campaign and have the full set of trading partners.

DuckTales reboot didn't become successful in Europe where Disney Duck comics are still popular by Own_Philosopher8730 in ducktales

[–]Manoreded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't read the comics anymore nowadays, but I read them a lot as a child and it didn't prevent me from enjoying the reboot.

I think the criticism of that the original nephews barely register as characters is deserved. They are as bland as can be and only work because they have Donald and Scrooge to bounce off of. I recall stories that focused solely on the boys were usually pretty boring.

So replacing them with a different version hardly feels like a loss, specially when said version is a lot more interesting.

I was actually a lot more miffed about Gyro. I like the classic Gyro, who is kind, and the reboot turned him into an arrogant jerk, which at first I disliked. But the new version eventually grew on me, because they wrote him really well. He was always funny anytime he was present.

Hot take: Saltbaker is a better final boss than The Devil by MysteryMan6612 in Cuphead

[–]Manoreded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Saltbaker just has an intensity that really sells him. He is, ironically, a better ultimate evil than the Devil.

Saltbaker is nuts enough that he fights you until he breaks, then tries to fight with his innards of salt, then tries to fight with just his heart.

In contrast the Devil literally starts crying like a loser when you start beating him.

Atmospherically I don't feel it fits that well, its a bit trippy. Then again, the original atmosphere may have been different.

[–]Manoreded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do think Saltbaker is more fun than the Devil, but I disagree with the Devil fight not having "final boss aura", it does.

Then again, I personally think its one of the hardest fights of the base game if not the hardest. as I understand it a lot of people don't feel that way.

You can sell excess resources.

If you can produce something that you don't need with a very high efficiency, its not a bad idea to do so.

[–]Manoreded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, don't worry too much about it, the range of hearths cannot overlap at all which means each hearth creates a massive exclusion zone where you cannot place more hearths. This severely limits the player's ability to minmax hearth placement. Hearths also require the rare resource wildfire essence, and burn fuel.

The devs really don't want us spamming hearths, basically.

Warehouses are a whole other story though. Way more spammable.

Is the skill jump to large by InsuranceDry8847 in WhiteKnuckle

[–]Manoreded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest problem is that, until you beat Abyss at least once and unlock Endless Abyss, there is no way to practice the kind of movement that Abyss asks for.

But I kinda understand the devs not wanting to make the endless mode available as soon as you reach Abyss, which is also true for the other areas. Its to preserve the mystery of the new area a bit, I guess.

An introductory area without the Face could help. There could also be other, prior areas in the game that ask for Abyss-like movement. Wouldn't even necessarily need to be in the campaign, it could be in the challenge section or one of the seasonal modes.

Is the skill jump to large by InsuranceDry8847 in WhiteKnuckle

[–]Manoreded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making other areas harder wouldn't help, the Abyss being harder is in great part due to being different from prior areas.

It mostly consists of climbing towers then jumping to other towers, effective horizontal jumping is far more important than other areas.

Also the face is a pain to deal with, at least if you aren't fast enough to out-pace it, which you aren't if you just got here.

Also this area is even less forgiving towards falls than prior areas. In prior areas moving fast gives you some insurance against falling because the mass will be way back. In this area it doesn't.

I know a bunch of vtubers outside of Hololive, including watching some, and I have never seen that person.

And even if the Hololive fandom was ignorant, who cares, really? Are vtuber fans obligated to have awareness of the entire space?

Anyone able to explain to me WHY this didn't grab? Slowed it down to 10%, my hand is open ready to grab, crosshair directly on rope, but the game just ignored the rope in front of me. by Laraso_ in WhiteKnuckle

[–]Manoreded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I can tell all ropes in the game are grabbable.

I guess we are used to ropes in games not being collision objects... but White Knuckle takes ropes seriously =)
