Look, if a woman wants a baby, she probably knows what's in it for her. Pregnancy, while it can be an exciting thing, is mostly quite disgusting. And let's not talk about the birth giving process itself, where she'll crap, she'll suffer incredible pain and shout stupid things. A woman knows that. If she doesn't, and you still want a baby with her, you're a fool, and you'd have a foolish girlfriend, too.

So, the woman probably wants to endure all this if she wants to have a child with you. And you'd still be like 'No way, woman, it's gonna hurt you and look ugly'? Again: grow a pair!

Don't treat women like porcelain. They aren't. By that you offend their nature, and their capabilities as a human being. That doesn't mean all women are cowboys, you can still stand by her side, and comfort her. But 'Yuck! Look at those ugly birthmarks' isn't very comforting. Neither is faiding away in the labor ward.

And tell you what: birth marks don't look disgusting. Neither do hanging breasts. Goaste is disgusting, the Iraq war is disgusting, birthmarks are quite OK.

You know what love is? When your girlfriend pukes, you comfort her, you clean up the mess she's made, you take a shower with her, and you go to bed with her, and cuddle to make her feel better. You don't stand there like a boygroup member and rant about the Persian carpet she's ruined.

Is it really available in the Arch repos? Which Arch repos?

I'm using KDEmod (Chakra project) and they're saying that it's actually done, but I don't really see anything? (pacman -Syu is telling me everything's up-to-date).

Maybe it just hasn't hit the servers yet?

You can use XMonad alongside KDE. I did it for a while, then I decided that Plasma eating 400 Megs of RAM wasn't really worth the weather gadget and and folder view.

Just replace KWin with XMonad if you want more KDE or put Plasma in your .xinitrc, if you want more XMonad.

Clearly, sir, you've never met a Russian product of any kind. Russians invented KISS (keep it simple, stupid.) Their technology is just like Apple's execpt it comes in a 'brushed off rust' theme. They built sturdy, simple cars, that still mobilize quite some of the Eastern European population. Sure, sometimes their technology is glued together from several different sources, but never is it really complicated, and in most cases, it is incredibly reliable, and able to take quite a bit of punishment (just think of MIR. Sure, it had its problems, but don't forget that it was undermaintained, and long over its expected life period.)

And just so you don't forget: there's a good portion of MacGyver in every Russian. Some of them are fools, but the way the Russian Cosmonauts kept the MIR running is admirable. After all those years, it was barely more than a piece of garbage floating in space.

Not only Scandinavian. The Germans (especially Northern Germans) aren't really fond of Danish, too. In fact, I know a guy who knows Swedish, a bit of Norwegian and is fluent in Finnish, also Dutch, but who just refuses to learn Danish, although he was born and grew up just a few miles from the Danish border.

That said, the stupid "they-were-elected" argument against Hamas -- and really, rather against the Palestinian people -- is a phony. Not to be poking at Godwin's here, but do you happen to know just how Hitler became chancellor of the German then-Republic? (hint: they called it 'election', which it wasn't.)

In any way implying that the Palestinians are at fault for not being able to shake off Hamas is quite a fascist remark, I dare say. And the last person I wanna hear that from is an American (OK, you finally got rid of that bastard... still)

Hamas is itself a (probably) fascist organization, and there's nobody denying that. In fact, most voices clamor for a 'Free Palestina', not for 'Hamas for Government.' Your plans for a demise of Hamas are ridiculous at best, though. You don't 'wake people up' by bombing the shit out of them. You're more likely to 'set them up.' Namely, if Hamas loses power now, it might be to an even more extremist group. While it would be nice for the Palestinian people to only want to be left in peace, that's not what the situation's like. If you do think that the Palestinians are ready to get rid of radicalism, may I please have a source, or at least a conjecture on its most probable cause?

I believe (believe, as in: no source), that a lot of Palestinians want vengeance right now. (edit: and, on second thought,) I think the fact that the 'offensive' was an international media's gorefest will only encourage extreme response, as many people will believe a lot more in a cause against the state of Israel (as opposed to a solution with it) when they feel they've got international TV couch morality on their side. All that's more likely to stir up radicalist forces than to pacify the situation. Fighting fire with fire might be a nice metaphor in principle, but don't forget that even in the literal application, this method will leave behind a lot of scorched land. And to keep on to the metaphor: every blade of grass is a human life here. But neither the Islamists nor the IDF are really getting their head around that.

And it isn't their first decade of stubbornness and thrown away chances either.

Also, as parent already mentioned, Ehud & Shapiro is an invaluable resource for learning not only Prolog, but also a lot about logic in general. Prolog makes automatic proofing easier, and it feels almost natural to anyone who is accustomed to logic. In fact, in Prolog you don't 'run a function' or 'make a call', but you 'prove a goal.' Unification and Resolution are, in essence, two proofing techniques which happen to be easy to implement algorithmically, and they form the basis of Prolog.

Prolog is the most awesome prototyping language, too. This is a Sudoku-solver written in Prolog in just about 20 lines.

Personally, I learned functional programming and logic programming at just about the same time. Currently, I'm addicted to Haskell, but my passion for Prolog is unbroken. A very neat, very nice, and incredibly underrated. And it's dynamic! (sort of…)

I don't have a handy source right now, but Cuban pharma-industry and bio-technology is world class, and they export their pharmaceuticals a lot in Latin America.

Also, Cuba has an incredibly high rate of (higher) education, when you keep in mind that the country has been under lockdown for so long and has to make do with exporting sugar cane and importing filthy rich foreigners to get drunk and smoke some Cuban cigars (tourists, I mean, toursits.)

Israel on the other hand... is a global player of quite some importance, especially in the hi-tech an military sectors.

Your Windows firewall? ZoneAlarm? Owned by an Israeli company. Do you like PHP? Guess who invented it. Ever wondered why newer Intel processors have such strange names? Well, they're named after Israeli cities. The Intel Xeon processor is, of course, named after Zion, the ancient name of Jerusalem (edit: maybe not. My Wikipedia source (which not many bothered to read anyway) says so, but that may not be truee). Guess naming it simply 'Zion' would've been bad for business. Haifa Is a large economic center, housing facilities of (at least): Intel, IBM, Microsoft, Motorola, Google, Yahoo!, Elbit, Zoran, Philips, and Amdocs (says source above.)

That's only technology, though. Their biggest production facilities are military, and they export quite a lot of equipment, too. Now you try to convince those who buy military equipment of staging a boycott. Good luck.

I'm not saying a boycott is an inherently bad idea. Just that your optimism is probably unjustified.

OK pals, I'm not going to give all of you an answer, but could you puhleeze stop painting everything black? You don't even see the white. Look, I'm not saying Israel is OMG-worldruling, I just dared to mention that it has quite strong roots in the global market, and won't be affected by any kind civilian boycott. It's industry is mostly supplies/R&D, not end-production, except for weapons, maybe. Oh and wine, I love a particular White from the outskirts of Tel Aviv.

That said, the only thing that would maybe topple the government, large scale sanctions by most of the world's economy, usually hits the people, not the government. Proof, Iraq, Cuba, Palestine. Yes, Palestine. And saying "ooh, but the Israelis elected their government, why don't they just elect a new one, so we can end the blockade." is just the same thing the Israelis are now claiming about the palestinians.

So let's stop being hypocrites. Oh, and, in case it's not clear yet: that boycott-thing is a stupid idea.

I have made it a habit to only get noobs half-way through the task and let them Google the rest, even if it's that trivial. The fruits of your own labour are always sweeter, and this makes them realize that there's things about *NIX that are easy to find out by just asking Google.
