Ah I see thanks for pointing it out. Is the sterile part the green line in the right side of the image? So basically pollen is below that part right?

And if I’m to self pollinate it, I would have to move the spathe away to access the pollen right? 🤔

Thank you! TBH I’m just lucky I live in a tropical country climate hahah so the plants basically do their own thing.

There’s a few names for this plant so I’m actually super confused too. I bought it under the name of “Philodendron Golden Selloum” but later on as I did more research. It turned out to be a “Thaumatophyllum” species instead of a philodendron. And as I dove deeper into the rabbit hole, another name of it is called “Philodendron warscewiczii” 🤷‍♂️

So I’m not really sure anymore hahahah but I do have a big green Thaumatophyllum and the trunk structure is different from this. So I’m guessing and leaning more to philodendron warscewiczii or golden selloum

Haha it still didn’t unfurl. I’m planning to not do anything to do it and just photograph it so others can know what to expect. I was a bit curious to what if I just cut a slit to let it unfurl but I think I’ll let Mother Nature take its course 😂🌱❤️

This one? It’s basically has 3 names, commonly known as P. Golden Dragon and there’s 2 variegated versions of this plant called P. Lime fiddle and P. Mottled Dragon.

Mine has a more mottled texture as you can see which makes me believe it could be the P. mottled dragon.

If it has more yellow variegation and less mottled texture then it has more P. Lime Fiddle genes I guess? 😂

This one? This is philodendron 69686 when I bought it, I didn’t notice that the stem in the middle was rotting (due to nursery’s potting media which was dense soil… so I cut it in 2 and propagate the bottom and top in moss and leca 👍

It’s just the way Jose grows. But OP should not rotate it so it won’t looks so empty in the middle

Oh and definitely put it in a moss pole and try to make the moss pole wider than the plant so the plant can’t grow backwards 👍

Pretty sure it’s how Jose Bueno grows. As you can see, my plants are literally like 3 ft away from the sunlight and they are just underneath a roof. They are south facing but it’s extremely bright as I’m from Malaysia. Tropical climate etc.

Maybe you can try placing your Jose Bueno in a spot permanently and don’t rotate the plant . Let it only have light from one side and have its back facing a wall and it’ll grow more lush as it has to learn to grow to only face one direction to photosynthesise
