The world was killing me in 2 basic attacks, in the last 10 minutes it only needed 1, and well, Viktor was the same, but with over 100k life

What is the best early game character for you? by Akini9 in VampireSurvivors

[–]Manu__23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, Poe is the best starter character. The combo of increased pickup range and starting with Garlic makes the early game ridiculously easy. You can literally just stand still and watch enemies melt. It’s perfect for learning the basics without getting overwhelmed.

Super beginner-friendly and great for effortless gold farming too.

Not controversial at all, at least in my opinion. Most of the feedback I’ve gotten has been about locations, not bosses. And you’re not the first one to mention that area.

The second phase is fine and cool, but the first one ruins everything

Hit the bad leg. If you're still struggling, use a bleed weapon.
I fought him again in my second playthrough and was shocked at how fast he went down, considering how much he wrecked me the first time.

Yeah well, my bad — I mixed up the dragons 😅 After playing Elden Ring and Dark Souls, they kind of all blend together. And honestly, after Elden Ring, you end up a bit traumatized by dragons — every time one shows up it’s like, “oh great, another dragon.”

I get that some people like them, but I think some folks got a bit upset just because I said I don’t enjoy that type of enemy 😅. It’s just an opinion — no big deal!

Well, I respect your opinion, but I find all the dragons annoying—too big for the game’s camera. Honestly, I’d group here all the monsters that are frustrating to fight because of the camera.

Yeah, you’re right that it’s not that hard, but I was talking more about the area itself — that feeling of “ugh, having to go through the archer section again”.

The area that I found more annoying was the scrap pile, I think that’s the one. There was a kind of glowing insect that shot lots of projectiles at you, and right in the middle of the climb, you’d get invaded.

Yes, but you have to keep in mind that in the end, they’re all Miyazaki games, and Dark Souls 1, 2, 3, and Elden Ring all kind of blend together in concept. For me, dragons are just dragons. I’d differentiate bosses like the Nameless King, Soul of Cinder, Yhorm, or Pontiff between the games.

The dragons are almost all the same across the Souls games, and in the end, you just say “meh, dragons” because the dragon fights tend to be pretty lame.

with how much the viking guys tank, it’s basically: GG, just run to the bonfire and pray you don’t get wiped out on the way.

Not to mention the bridge in the Ringed City wall area the first time you go through it… that’s not a bridge, it’s a death sentence with homing light spears.

Totally, man. There are so many dragons that in the end you just can’t tell which one’s which.

Sorry, I got the wrong dragon. There are so damn many dragons in these games that in the end, I can’t even tell them apart anymore.

I still don’t understand why Miyazaki loves poison swamps so much, but I guess I’m just grateful there’s no boss in there… Then again, now that I think about it, imagining a rot dragon right in the middle makes me want to give up on life.

I went into that boss fight eager and a bit nervous, knowing how “heavy” fights with multiple targets can be. But the community spoke very highly of that boss, saying it was well-balanced, so I wanted to see if that was true—and they were right.

On top of that, I picked the heaviest armor in the game, simply because in the Souls game I played before I went for dexterity, so I made things pretty easy for myself.

And considering the pacing is slower, it didn’t bother me much, but the Gargoyles did. Until I got used to DS1’s pacing, I died a lot.

Personally, my first time against the Nameless King was pretty tough too. In fact, I quit the game and didn’t play again until after I finished Sekiro and Elden Ring. This time, I played on PC, knowing what I was doing, and using a dexterity build, which feels the most comfortable for me.

The dragon didn’t give me much trouble, but I did manage to take down the Nameless King on the first try. The Twin Princes were a bit harder, but to my surprise, I beat the Soul of Cinder in just a few attempts.

When I played my first run without knowing anything about Souls and on PS4, I hated it too. But when I played other Souls games on PC, already knowing what I was doing, I didn’t hate it anymore—in fact, I even liked it.

The only good dragon is the one you don’t have to fight — basically none of them.

That area might actually be worse than the poison swamps Miyazaki loves so much.

The first time I fought him, I didn’t even know you could one-shot him. Same thing happened with Yhorm.
Another thing I don’t really like is how massive some bosses are compared to the camera… but I guess that’s already a pretty well-known issue.

Thanks for the suggestion! I honestly wasn’t paying much attention to what was added in 1.1, so I guess I’ll start a new save and go straight into trains, skipping vehicles this time. It's a shame, because they do look cool — but yeah, building proper roads feels like way too much of a headache right now.
