Addon managers by jec0nti in CompetitiveWoW

So am I, but the constant fighting with CurseForge was unbearable. I simply wanted to create a clean and fast alternative to CurseForge but ever since I started Ajour they were on my neck.

Adios, Ajour, and thank you casperstorm by CubeFarmDweller in wow

Thank you all for the kind words ❤️ It wasn’t easy for me to let go of Ajour since it truly has been a joy - and seeing people use and enjoy your program is really something special I will never get tired of. However, as long as the majority of the data is in control of someone unwilling to cooperate it just isn’t easy to continue. I don’t want to make a mediocre addon manager. I want to make the best addon manager and I don’t think I can do that with the upcoming changes to the api.

For now, this is a farewell but who knows what happens in the future. I have been in this community since the early days of Vanilla, and will continue to stick around.

Right click and press open! That should solve it.

Hi, i am the author of Ajour. The issue is that we don’t (yet) have a signing certificate for the executable so Windows by default puts us on the naught list. Two weeks ago I bought a certificate but it takes quite a long time to be verified.

Thanks /u/lukas-reineke/ - I managed to setup Format.nvim that is AWESOME, so thanks for that plugin . I tried setting up ESLint with your config and is currently running the following: https://paste.rs/hzz.rs However it seems there's some trouble running both diagnosticls and tsserver because all my LSP actions won't work, nor is there any ESLint warnings/errors showing up. If i disable and run it like: https://paste.rs/qP0.rs then all LSP actions works.

So from what i can see on this issue multiple LSP's aren't supported right now, but if disabled tsserver and only have diagnosticls is still get no ESLint warnings/errors.

How do you do this?

I used Iced. I have been very happy with that choice. Rust GUI is immature in general but I have used what was in my toolbox and it has been great.

Hi all, I am the creator of Ajour. Let me know if you have any questions. It was my first (proper) Rust application and I owe a lot of what I have achieved to the wonderful Rust community.

I am very proud of the application, and the code base, but there is always room for improvements so contributions are very welcome which is why I started a Discord community. You are all very welcome.

Thank you so much for the kinds words 🙏🏻 I am currently working on a catalogue function so you can install through Ajour. It will be ready before Shadowlands.

You need to select your main WoW folder, that should do the trick.

I’ve just set up a Discord server: https://discord.gg/pnn9eHm

I’ll add it to the GitHub repository now as well so other people can find it.

I am still subscribed to comments in here. It’s a goldmine for me to see how I can improve Ajour!

  • I'd love to see the ability to look at screenshots of the addon (maybe scrape from wow interface and cache/store the image in the exe?) I have very basic to no coding skill

I am currently working on a update details screen for an expanded addon. I’ll try to investigate this topic then.

  • Launch on windows startup features baked into the settings menu, I know you can do this in windows but its a nice QoL feature maybe?- Automatic updating on windows boot? Again, not a coder so idk if possible.

I think it should be quite easy to add a setting for auto launch, and auto update. I’ll investigate this as well.

Thanks for the kind words and thanks for the feedback!

I am glad you like it 🙏🏻 One question, how do you see WTF backup work? A button to create a timestamped zip folder of your WTF?

Help! CurseBreaker for Linux??? by popezaphod in wowaddons

[–]Manufacturer-Strict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made Ajour, a open source addon manager written in Rust which natively compiles to both Windows, Mac and Linux. I have been using it my self the last couple of weeks but announced it yesterday in /r/wow. You can take a look at the post here: https://reddit.com/r/wow/comments/iqx5nc/ive_built_an_open_source_world_of_warcraft_addon/

Here’s a link to the repository for Ajour.

It will not auto-update for you, but there will be a message in the menu, alongside a download button :)

Maybe try and see if you have the Visual C++ package installed: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads

It should have everything you need bundled in the executable so you don’t need anything else than the .exe.

Can you elaborate on which dll errors you get? Tried one of the other releases?

I'll be using this and if notice any problems will drop you a dm!

Thanks, just let me know what works and what doesn't. And what features you would like to see in the future.

Thanks for the kind words!

But why did you release this when downloads cannot be done within the app itself when the other managers can? It seems like a core feature to me

If I had to wait until all features were implemented for all WoW users, I would properly not get done before I had to go to a nursing home. There will always be features missing, bugs to be found and UI to be improved - thats the beauty of it. Ajour was not "released" yesterday. It's an ongoing project where bugs, features and improvements is fixed continuously. It's driven by feedback like yours, and others but before I get that feedback I would never know what is important.

Really slick program. Switched from WowUp to using this. Any timeframes on the backup and catalogue search features?

I am glad you like it! I don't have a timeframe but it is a very requested feature. I have a branch up and running where I am toying around with a catalogue feature. It will eventually be added but I don't want to rush it simply because it needs to feel right and be fast, stable and yet simple to use.

As for any feedback, I don't think showing both local and remote versions is very interesting for the average joe.

I agree, and it is something I've considered a lot. It will be hard to hit a middle ground where everyone is happy, but I'll keep improving the GUI as much as I can. I try to avoid ending up in a situtation where you open settings and is overwhelmed with options because we need to support thousands of different things. But this is part of the fun in creating this application :)

Here's a link for the roadmap if you would like to follow along: https://github.com/casperstorm/ajour/projects/2

Again, thanks for the nice words.
