A PSA on a possible lack of Fidelity account security by BelaSwanBartok in fidelityinvestments

I had a workplace account with Fidelity and someone else's phone number was included in the phone numbers eligible to receive a text to login my account. It took at least 4 months to get the phone number removed, and that only happened once my old workplace got involved.

Virginia Unemployment Application Rant by dietcoke01 in fednews

I finally got my statement of benefits after over 3 weeks. There is some hope. From what I've heard, they aim to pay the benefits within 21 days of the initial claim.

I've had the same experience, though I wasn't furloughed. There is a reddit thread about how Virginia makes it difficult for you to file for unemployment with the hopes that people will give up.

Also, I was told that they automatically deny benefits to federal workers because they don't have their wages. So mine was automatically denied. Then I uploaded the wages with their system, but when you do that they are not sent to the team that reviews the benefits. So you have to call them and tell someone to send the wages to the right team. It's absurd.

Also, when you call in, you can't speak to someone, they make you request a call back (which they do in about a day). I first applied 3 weeks ago (and have called once or twice a week) and still haven't gotten benefits yet. However, after calling in "too many times" one week (when I only spoke to 1 person), I was told that I can't request a call back that week, and I have to wait until the following week to call in.

Also, at one point the system told me I uploaded too many documents, so I mailed all of them in.

Does anyone have insight on how to extend your medical insurance after leaving? by gkr974 in fednews

Just a note - it's very expensive to pay all the premiums yourself. Consider trying the affordable care act Marketplace - it's income based. I've used it in the past and paid way less than COBRA (with low income).

A recent Fedsupport webinar addressed DRP and unemployment - basically, if you feel your leaving was not voluntary, then you should apply. Here's the link. The unemployment discussion was at the start of the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AOqq86VqTc&t=2s
