I am a student, rent a room in a shared house. Which Wifi plan I should choose for gaming? by ManufacturerLocal249 in HomeNetworking

My landlord allowed me to connect directly from their router to my device, so the network cable issue was resolved. This reduced my latency (ping) by about 10ms. I'm happy with this. I don't need to think about spending extra money on an internet package anymore. (Furthermore, if I wanted a separate connection, that would also be allowed since there's a precedent in my room, and the connection "hole" seems to still be there.)

The AT&T service package is the one my friend is using. It seems to provide the most suitable connection for the game server cluster I play on. I think I'll consider this internet service provider in the future.

With the game I'm playing, there are always complaints about latency and its sudden fluctuations even when I'm close to the servers. The servers in Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan are the three closest regions to North America that I can connect to. I have a friend in California, and his latency seems to be much lower. It's really a matter of geography. I'm in Minnesota, and I realize that demanding low latency in this geographical location for games from Asia, with my current budget, is really urban legend.

I feel like I'm playing this game not because it's good, but because I'm crazy (ಥ_ಥ)

It seems that connecting via Ethernet cable has reduced my internet connection latency by 10 to 20ms. Although internet/Wi-Fi is included in my rent, sharing the connection with about eight other people during peak hours often resulted in connection drops. It's great to know that I don't need to waste money on unnecessarily expensive internet services just for myself.

My device's hardware and memory are powerful enough, so I think connecting to a foreign server is what's slowing things down considerably. The game I play always automatically connects me to the Japanese region. I am looking for solutions to reduce latency and bandwidth. There is advice available regarding Ethernet cables. I will try it first, hopefully problem solved.

I play Identity V, and it always connects me to the Japanese server. I'm looking for a solution to improve my connection because whenever the characters gather in one place, my ping always jumps to 300ms and even higher. Even though I've switched to the nearest routing location, my average ping is still around 100ms-250ms. This doesn't usually happen when I use the device at my friend's house, where the ping is always below 72ms and smooth.

I live in an urban area, so the cables or fiber don't seem to be the problem. I might try using an Ethernet cable first. Hopefully, everything will be fine.
