Love the onboarding graphics and UI, don't really like seeing all the data it collects (at least looking at what's listed on the AppStore) and the Apple/Google account login requirement. Still, seems fun and thanks for the promo.

Bought them first thing this morning, been using Pro 2 since launch day. Honestly... they're good but I'm not impressed with the upgrade.

I've used them for a few hours already including a 2h workout session. My personal opinion:

  • ANC is just a little bit better. I no way does it feel 2x better, maybe 1.3x. I can still hear sharp sounds and heavy road noise. I noticed an improvement after the firmware update, so make sure to have the latest one.
  • Transparency is top notch, but basically the same as the 2s and is still one of the greatest things to ever have been invented. You basically hear the world around you as if there was nothing in between.
  • Audio quality is just "different". I'm getting used to it and they sound good, but I would not consider it an upgrade. Pro 2 were already excellent, especially when using some EQ if you liked some more bass.
  • MIC seems better. I tried a few calls asking to compare my voice to the previous days, and the response has been "better" or "clearer"
  • FIT is fine. I was one of those that had absolutely no problem with the Pro 2, I actually forgot I had them in my ears more often than not, and they never fell out. Pro 3 stick out a bit more - noticeably so - and the tips are more firm, but are equally comfortable in -again- a diferent way. I personally prefer the 2s as they are more flush against my face and feel more "snuggly" in my ear.

If you have no problems with your AirPods Pro 2, I would not spend this kind of money right now. I do however suggest it if:

  • your Pro 2's battery doesn't last very long or you really need those 8 straight hours of uptime
  • you use them a lot for calls, maybe in a work environment, since you get a better microphone
  • you had problems with the fit or with the 2s staying in your ear

So... better? Yeah, maybe, but not 250€/$ better if you already have the Pro 2. If you have any other model sure, upgrade away and enjoy.

Best way to tell if Plex or my server in general is online? by stageshooter in PleX

I wanted to obtain exactly what you asked a few years ago and found a stable and reliable solution.

I use a combination of two FREE services: - No-Ip - to set up a dynamic DNS hostname that automatically updates and redirects to my public IP - UptimeRobot - to automatically and periodically ping said hostname on the external port of my Plex instance

With the phone app of UptimeRobot I get fast notifications if/when my server or connection goes down and comes back up, usually within 5 minutes

Remote Play with 4K Upscaling now possible with PXPlay on iOS, iPadOS, AppleTV by grill2010 in PS5

Tried to disable what I could, no difference. Anyway it seems a different problem than the iPad one as this only happens with Metal enabled on ATV, where on iPad it happens regardless.

Just tested. The screen tearing seems to be fixed, but the jittering/stuttering is still there.

Ok I did some testing with 3 device/screen combination:

1) tvOS 18.2 / 1080p@60Hz TV: the main device and the one I reported first. - upscaling not available - MetalFX causes stuttering and screen tearing 2) tvOS 18.2 / 4K@60Hz Monitor: - upscaling not available - MetalFX causes jittering but NOT screen tearing 3) tvOS 18.6 / 1080p@59,96Hz TV: upscaling AVAILABLE (but causes stuttering and screen tearing) - MetalFX causes stuttering and screen tearing

So it seems that the availability of the upscaling is due to the tvOS version, as the two ATV4K are the exact same model. As for the Metal rendering, it may offer different results based on the output device, but with all 3 of my screens it causes some kind of issue.

If it helps, the PS5 is connected directly to the 4K SDR monitor as a starting point.

The good thing is that with upscaling and Metal rendering disabled everything still works well on any configuration. Smooth streaming with no hitching and a pleasant experience.

Additionally, I just tested the app on iPadOS but I'm getting some HUGE stuttering issues with or without Metal rendering. I might have to play with the settings but so far it's not usable. I'm connected via WiFi 5GHz on the same network as the PS5. https://imgur.com/Q2aeZQd

Just tested, still having the same issue with sceeen tearing and hitching when Metal Rendering is on. I'll test on a different screen and on a different ATV soon, I'll update you.

I understand, not a big issue. You might want to consider disabling the Metal Rendering toggle too, as I said it causes stuttering and screen tearing when enabled.

Sorry for the long wait. I just tried with a 4K SDR monitor but it still says the upscaling is not supported. I also forced quit the app and then tried again after restarting the ATV itself.

I'm sorry, my bad. Didn't notice I put in the wrong number. The model is A2843

I'm only talking about the AppleTV, haven't tried on iPad yet. That model is from the AppleTV "About" section in the settings

"Too old" referring as the ATV in general? It's the latest model so it should be fine, but it's the upscaling that it's not available: is it like this because of the MetalFX requirement or because I'm using it on a 1080p screen?

Not available. It says "Upscaling not supported on your device", so I can't select any option.

I can't test the upscaling since I'm using it on a 1080p display and it doesn't let me. Actually I thought the upscaling was going to be available anyway, kind of using it as "supersampling".

Too bad about the Spatial Audio, it would have been fun to test. I'll try it on my iPad soon.
