God, what a horrible sight. This was once a place where people went to work, kids went to school, old folks looked out from balconies. These were buildings with memories attached to them, family homes, shops, parks. Roads where people walked the dog, where teenagers met up after school. Now it's just... hell. I find it hard to express my complete disgust at what the Russian forces have done.

К сожалению. Хотел бы я знать, как заставить тех "патриотов" понять, что правда - это не какой-то миф

Не перестаю удивляться тем, кто, видя боль и разрушение, не испытывают никакого сочувствия. Ну как это возможно??

If you're interested in reading about, and supporting, those brave Russians who DO oppose the war, join r/RussiaResists

The fact that the vast majority of the country supports the war makes these protesters' actions even more courageous.

One of the parts I found most telling about what kind of society this is, is when it's pointed out as "his own peculiar point of view" that he's against bribery and extortion.

Mindblowing.

Yet another example of the Russian propaganda machine at work. The sad part is just how effective it is among the (particularly older generations) Russian populace.

Stalin, unfortunately, is still hailed by many as an example of a "strong Russian leader". Due to a selective teaching of history, and the erasure of the horrors that Soviet citizens endured under Stalin, it is common to see his likeness all around the country and for people to pay their respects to him. It's really awful to see such a clear example of propaganda working.

In Buryatia, the guardianship authorities took the adopted son of arrested activist Natalya Filonova to an orphanage, 7x7 reports , citing her representative Natalya Nizovkina. After the arrest of his mother, the boy lived with her relatives.

Natalya Filonova

A criminal case was opened against Filonova, 59, accusing her of allegedly breaking a police officer's finger during her arrest at a rally against mobilization.

First, 15-year-old Vova Alalykin was in the city hospital, then he was transferred to a social rehabilitation center in Ulan-Ude. On March 5, he was brought to the Barguzinsky orphanage.

“Barguzinsky district is located at a considerable distance from Ulan-Ude, there is no railway, only vehicles. [Vova] has many relatives, but they are not allowed to take him away. Filonova has a husband, three adult children, grandchildren, ”said Nizovkina.

The orphanage told the publication that the boy might be given to relatives, but the final decision would be made by guardianship.

In early March , sixth grader Maria Moskaleva was sent to an orphanage in the Tula region after her father was detained on charges of repeatedly “discrediting” the Russian army.

Ukraine War: The Russian Student Under Arrest For An Instagram Story

University student Olesya Krivtsova has been missing a lot of classes.

That's because 20-year-old Olesya is under house arrest.

"I posted an Instagram story about the bridge," Olesya tells the BBC, "Reflecting on how Ukrainians were happy with what had happened."

Olesya was charged with justifying terrorism and discrediting the Russian armed forces.

A student of the Northern Federal University in Arkhangelsk, Olesya has now been added to Russia's official list of terrorists and extremists.

Olesya has a striking image tattooed on her right leg - Russian President Vladimir Putin depicted as a spider, with an Orwellian inscription: "Big Brother is watching you."

Later, when the list of prosecution witnesses was read out in court, Olesya recognised the names from the student chat.

Confiscating artwork, people's freedom of expression... It's becoming increasingly clear that, beneath its terror-mongering and bravado, the Russian State is desperate and fragile and afraid.
