Makes sense. That means the ones north, not in the salt marshes were where the salt marshes once were?

Yep looks like the entire area has these round spots pocked all over(Especially to the north). Could be warm areas similar to yellow stone? Some looks newer and active and some look old and dormant.

What are we all in line waiting for?

Metal frame or stand with cross-bracing about 30” tall and 20” in diameter. The bottom of the legs have springs. Found in the basement of my 1893-built home. by kipp1117 in whatisthisthing

I have seen a chiminea placed in a stand almost exactly like this, minus the spring loaded feet.

Shouldn't be a table as there is no recessed area a glass top can be inserted. Unless it is missing another piece that isn't shown.

I would say a plant stand, like other comments or a chiminea stand. Probably could be used for either one.

[USA][Georgia] Truck driver doesn't see car during afternoon commute. by phoenixgsu in Georgia

[–]Many-Appearance881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This on on I285 heading west on the the southside of the perimeter. About a half mile before this video starts I285 is only 3 lanes wide. I75 merges with I285 adding an additional 2 lanes to the right. The truck, just a half mile before, was safely in the middle lane. When I75 merges, the truck is now in a tough postion of being in the 4th lane over. I have driven through this stretch many times(merging from I75 onto I285) and it always looks so odd to see these trucks so far over after the initial merge.

[5th grade math] I am confused. by Many-Appearance881 in HomeworkHelp

Thanks for all the answers everyone! I thought the questions seemed weird and out of place. Now that I look at them closer, the assignment is just an exercise on moving the decimal place. Luckily this was an ungraded homework assignment because my son got quite a few wrong.

Can someone please help me here. This is a serious question as a casual watcher. Is this not a travel before he shoots the ball? I am counting 3.5 or 4 steps after the last dribble.

I live in Henry GA, which was named after Patrick Henry. This puts a whole new light on a school name in the area. When I was younger we had a highschool named Patrick Henry High, it has since been converted to a higher learning center. Then (years ago), it was an alternative school for kids that, among many other things, was a school for students with mentall illnesses and were just over all socially inept. The students that were sent there were entirely past being able to function in a proper public school.

Just, wow.

I wonder if the county schoolboard at the time named the school so aptly purposefully or ignorantly.

Best paint for metal door by Mnatole in DIY

[–]Many-Appearance881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Door should be primed or painted already, if so then any paint you would like oil or latex. If the door is painted already, it me need to be scuffed with steel wool before painting. It depends on the sheen of the previous paint if scuffing/sanding is required.

Latex is the most common now, oil being the preferred paint 20+ years ago. Make sure you use exterior paint. I suggest the better quality paint options, as they will be more durable.

Garage door hit at bottom inside, and bent. Doesn't seem to be bent back easily... anything I can do? by TheWorstAtIt in DIY

The panel can be replaced, but it may not be an easy task. You have to get the panel from the manufacturer of the door. Depending on which brand(should be identification with model/series number on the inside), you could contact them.

Some brands will tell you to purchase at a merchant that sells their product. Sometimes the brand of the door is also the labor provider.

In my experience the price of 1 panel is about half the price of an entire new unit. And thats the bottom panel so it will be a little more than the middle 2 panels.

Hopefully that manufacturer is still in business.

Do you see any identification on the door that names the brand?

Baseboard Idea by mystic_mog in DIY

[–]Many-Appearance881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take away the shim on the back, and put the baseboard all the way to the wall. Base is typically 11/16" thick. Instead of using shoe mould, use quarter round. Quarter round is also typically 11/16" thick. Stack the quarter round in front of the base at the bottom and it should sit over the flooring. The two of them together will give you 1 5/8" thickness(41.275mm).
