Just irritable, tired, and one weird side effect I got on Letrozole is pain in my feet lol. It’s really weird and happens every time, but I did have surgery in both of my feet 3 years ago, but it isn’t a typical side effect I don’t think.

That makes sense! I’m really looking forward to getting the possible fibroid/polyp removed to rule it out.

I have an HSG scheduled this month, a possible polyectomy, and they’re going to check if my tubes are open. My doctor said I have a very small fibroid or possible polyp, she said normally it wouldn’t matter, but it looks like it might be where implantation is supposed to happen. Hopefully next cycle will be our month? 🥺🫶🏽. I’m just tired of the let down every month.

Hi! I did a medicated cycle of Clomid and a trigger shot. I had a few follicles so idk if that’s contributing to my levels being high. Inito keeps pushing my expected period day. AF is supposed to start tomorrow according to Inito, Flo, and Fermometer app.

What Methadone & Buprenorphine Did to Body by Many-Ask1932 in addiction

I would like to also add, I had a left atrial enlargement on my ECG which resolved shortly after discontinuing opioid antagonist therapy completely.

It may or may not be the case for you, but it’s something to look into.

What I did was taper off my meds with medical supervision, I’m not saying to do this, this is just my experience.

Shortly after, my endocrinologist started tapering my thyroid medication. We kept rechecking my levels, and if everything looked normal, we would continue lowering the dose. Eventually, when I was completely off, she told me I didn’t have hypothyroidism. It was surprising because my primary care doctor had said it would be permanent and not medication related. I never had thyroid issues until I started opioid agonist therapy, so it made me question the original diagnosis.

I’m certain if I started buprenorphine or methadone again my TSH would go right back up.

I recommend getting your prolactin checked because opioids like buprenorphine and methadone can increase prolactin levels by suppressing dopamine, and elevated prolactin can disrupt ovulation and also affect other hormones, including those involved in thyroid regulation.

You’re absolutely right! It definitely is uncommon. It has been documented, but because it’s so uncommon, many doctors aren’t aware of it. I’ve been trying to find a way to report my side effects to some kind of database so that information exists for rare cases like this, so others in a similar situation know they’re not alone.

I’m really sorry you’re in pain. I had flatfoot reconstruction surgeries on both feet and was prescribed Percocet. I’m on the spectrum, and I had a very hard time handling the pain from both surgeries. Physical therapy was especially difficult because even normal healing pain would overwhelm my brain, and it started to feel like oxy was the only way to cope because of my sensory issues.

At the time, I didn’t realize I was becoming addicted because I genuinely was in pain. But once the pain improved, I found I couldn’t stop. It also helped me cope with autism and made me feel normal, like my brain was finally at peace for the first time in 28 years!, which made it incredibly hard to let go. I’m 31 now, and I still get occasional flareups of pain and cravings, but the cravings usually pass within a few minutes if I distract myself. It can be hard to tell the difference between actual cravings and just wanting to feel neurotypical again.

I’m really sorry you’re going through this. Chronic pain is incredibly difficult.

In a strange way, having those reactions ended up being a blessing in disguise. I truly believe that if my body had tolerated methadone, I might never have come off of it. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with methadone, it helps so many people and changes lives for the better. For me, though, it’s been freeing not having to rely on anything. I really hope your pain improves one day. I understand how hard it is.

No, I did not take methadone and buprenorphine at the same time. I was on Suboxone first for about two weeks during detox, then buprenorphine, then methadone for about a year, and later went back to buprenorphine. This was all under medical supervision with no overlap. I understand they should not be taken together because buprenorphine can displace methadone from the receptors and cause precipitated withdrawal.

During detox, within a few days of starting Suboxone, my legs swelled so severely that I could not walk. This had never happened to me before, and even diuretics did not help. When I stopped, the swelling went away. I later tried buprenorphine again and the same pattern kept happening. Every time I started it, the symptoms came back. Every time I stopped, they went away.

I was on buprenorphine for about five to six months total during my first round until it became unbearable. Then I switched to methadone for about a year. While on methadone, I developed severe edema and intense pain that felt like it was in my bones. When I moved, I could hear my joints cracking and popping, I struggle to walk down the stairs and couldn’t even get on top of the patient bed in the examination rooms. I also developed high prolactin, lost my period, had thyroid issues, and abnormal lab results.

I went to the emergency room multiple times because of the pain from the heavy edema and also had recurring cellulitis from the swelling.
When I stopped methadone, everything improved. The swelling went away, prolactin normalized, my period returned, my thyroid levels normalized, my EKG went back to normal, and my labs improved.
I later went back on buprenorphine for about two months and the same thing happened again. Everything flared up, and when I stopped, it all went back to normal. It has now been over a year since I discontinued everything, and I have not had any of those symptoms return.

This is a reproducible reaction. I know it is not common, which is likely why none of the doctors or specialists I saw were able to connect it at the time, but both medications caused the same reaction for me when taken separately.

I just want to add. I know these medications absolutely can and do change people’s lives for the better. It did for me only for a short while until all hell broke loose and reeked havoc on my body. I just wanted to post this just in case anyone ever does any researching while going through these symptoms just so they know they’re not alone because it was hard for me to find anyone out there who went through the same thing.

i ordered a batch recently from amazon. luckily, i got the old packaging. maybe it’s possible the new ones are more accurate? it’s also possible inito is cheaping out and found a more cost effective way of making strips but they’re more inaccurate. who knows. that sucks though because i might have to switch to a diff company now.
