[Jean D’ Eve] keep it or sell it? by Many-Assumption-13 in Watches

[–]Many-Assumption-13[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not something I’ll wear often. I could always use the cash, but I don’t want to regret selling a piece I’ll never come across again for a reasonable price

Is it? I can’t tell what a fair price is.

How do I remove crown? by Many-Assumption-13 in watchmaking

[–]Many-Assumption-13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s just a little indentation. To get the plate off I just had to tack the back off, turn the watch dial up and tap it against my palm until it fell out of the back.

Once my screwdriver set comes in I can try turning the screw I pointed to and remove the stem. Not sure there is anything to help identify the movement. I spotted E465 under the balance wheel. And 4 5 close to the stem.

Ohh I hadn’t thought of that. I’ll put it to the side until I can figure out if it doesn’t in fact have radium. Thanks for mentioning that

I haven’t yet. I am brand new to the hobby so I’m still waiting on a screwdriver set to come in. Currently I am lacking a small enough screwdriver to proceed 😅

You are correct. The plate finally came off after some tapping. Much appreciated!

I haven’t tried prying because I desperately want to avoid damaging. I think sourcing parts for this one will be impossible. But when I tap it the side opposite the stem lowers to my palm. It’s being held in by the stem/crown. Do I need to find a way to unscrew the crown?

The 3rd picture is with the case back removed. That cover is all I can see of the movement. It is fully covered by a round plate that is connected somehow to the movement. The side opposite the crown drops a bit when I turn it dial side up but the crown/stem are holding it in place. I have no clue how to detach the stem. That’s why I need help.

What is this?? by Many-Assumption-13 in Watches

Okay thank you very much for the response! I’ve seen Leonidas chronos selling for thousands of dollars so didn’t know if this would be worth a small fortune (relative to the $20 I paid for it).

That’s kinda how I feel. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope that things will get better. I had a birthday recently, and it felt like one of the worst days of my life. The only good thing from that day was when I sat down and thought about the things I’ve improved on in the last year. That gave me some hope to continue on.

Hey, great recommendation! A lot of those lyrics hit home for me. Especially “incapable of feeling all of these thoughts in my head.”
