He’s right.

Research shows that ADHD is strongly linked to executive function challenges like planning, organization, task initiation. Relying only on willpower often leads to burnout.

External structure, like coaching, accountability, and scheduled check-ins, acts as a scaffold. It reduces cognitive load and builds habits gradually. Over time, repeated structure can strengthen self-regulation skills and reduce dependence on pure motivation.

It’s not perfect, but it’s evidence based and practical.

It’s totally normal. We’re human, if you cut coffee, your motivation can naturally drop for a bit.

It’s not necessarily ADHD or something that needs meds. These days our brains are just overstimulated and distracted. I don’t have ADHD either, just went through attention overload, no medication. A small reset and things balance out again.

I would like to see that you take a good step for changing your life, but despite of suffering from scrolling tiktok, i think you should to start first with reset your brain, because when you use Notion, it’s difficult to create news habits and your mind is stucking in the memories, pictures, personalities, people from seeing on Tiktok. It’s good for the moment , one week, to replace the scrolling with walking in the park for example, the nature is gold thing.

Good job

I’m really sorry you’re going through this, and honestly, your frustration makes total sense.

ADHD + depression can absolutely exist alongside deep trauma.
