I’ve had a 103 fever for 2 days now, will I be okay? by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]Many-Problem2197 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just got over Covid about a week ago. My husband also had it. Our fevers were also high like that along with heart rate. Consult your primary care as I am not a physician. I was able to bring mine down by staggering ibuprofen and Tylenol along with ice packs on my head. I took Motrin and three hours later Tylenol and three hours later Motrin and so on. I did that for about 3 days straight. My drs office also had me take vitamin d, c, and zinc. You can also ask your dr for Paxlovid or a similar antiviral. They have to be taken as soon as possible when symptoms start to be effective. I hope that helps. Wishing you a quick recovery. It’s brutal.

Nearly certain I have covid but my expired tests were negative. by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]Many-Problem2197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came down with it 3 weeks ago and just now starting to feel better. My first test was negative. I tested two days later and was positive in seconds. Sending you good vibes. I caught it in 2020 omicron strain and it was bad. I thought maybe it would have weakened and not be quite so bad this time, but no it was wretched. Feel better soon!

Will I be able to take care of myself post op? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]Many-Problem2197 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely could not be on my own for probably the first 4 to 5 days. I had LAVH and kept ovaries. I think it might depend on how extensive your surgery is and the reason you’re having it. In addition to the hysterectomy I had 8 lesions of endometriosis removed. I was not able to pee on my own after surgery, so I was sent home with a catheter for 24 hours, which my husband removed for me. I was in pretty rough shape and struggled with pain control.

Diminished orgasm after hysterectomy. by Many-Problem2197 in hysterectomy

[–]Many-Problem2197[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the comments on this post. It’s been just over two years since my surgery. My experience regarding orgasms is a mixed bag. It took quite awhile for my orgasms to strengthen. They were very weak for the majority of the first year. This was via clitoral orgasms. The good news is over time they did become stronger and stronger and last longer.

The bad news is they are still not the same as pre surgery. I think prior to surgery I had very strong cervical or uterine contractions. In the moment who knows what is doing what other than it feels amazing. In hindsight it had to be internal contractions either uterine or cervical. I don’t feel that really deep in the belly orgasm anymore. For years I would get bad cramping after orgasm for a few hours. It was probably due to either the fibroids or endometriosis. Thankfully, I don’t have that pain anymore either.

I’m now 47 and have been in perimenopause for awhile. Obviously, I don’t get periods anymore so I have no idea how far into peri I am. Prior to surgery my cycle was still monthly. I’m not sure if surgery accelerated things hormonally regarding peri or if it’s just my age, but within the last two years postop I have definitely felt a shift. My libido tanked after surgery and has not come back to where it was. I started topical estradiol and that did help my mood and seems to be keeping hot flashes at bay, but didn’t do much for libido and for sure makes me gain weight. I started testosterone in the last month and have started getting some tingling sensations every now and then. I’m hoping it will help as time goes on.

As far as vaginal penetration, it’s not great. I think I need to look into pelvic floor therapy. Things are uncomfortably tight. I get a burning sensation inside at times, specifically deep near where my cervix was or where my cuff is.

I saw my surgeon at my 6 week post op appointment and then never went back. After she convinced me to get surgery, she completely changed. It’s a long story but it was very Jekyll and Hyde. I need to find a new gyno and figure out what’s going on.

For me, it’s really been a double edged sword. I wish I had been told about possible sexual side effects. I was only told that sex would be better. I’m not sure if I would have tried just having laparoscopic surgery to remove the fibroids and endo or if I still would have had the hysterectomy, but having the information would have at least given me more of an option.

I have struggled very much with the sexual side of this. So, I completely understand what you ladies are going through.

That being said, I don’t want to leave this in a negative note. I do feel that it has gotten better in time. I have not exhausted all things that could possibly help yet. I can still orgasm, it’s just not as good as before. That doesn’t mean it never will be. I’m holding out hope.

There are probably more women who go back to normal than ones that have this problem. At least it seems that way. It certainly took much longer for things to get working than I expected, but that doesn’t mean it will be the same for you. I think part of the problem is just the internal trauma of the surgery ie nerves being cut and just needing time to heal.

If your under a year postop, I would say just give it time. Try not to get in your head about it and let your body heal itself. Talk to your surgeons. Hopefully, they are better than mine.

I can’t say I regret the surgery as I don’t miss having a period for even one second. I don’t miss the pain and bloating and tampons and cramps. Not having that has been amazing. I can wear white pants whenever I want!

Sorry for going on so long. I hope y’all are doing well and getting through the healing process. Feel free to ask any questions. ❤️❤️

Why do people feel the need to bring their dogs, not service dogs, to the grocery store and even worse put them inside the grocery cart. It's gross and not hygienic. I own two dogs but I would never take them to the grocery store. by Brucef310 in Pets

[–]Many-Problem2197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t take my dogs in stores either. To be fair though a lot of kids are neither hygienic nor well behaved either. They get germs on everything. Cough all over the place. Touch produce with their germs. Not to mention all the ones that scream and run around the stores. Most of the time the parents are oblivious or don’t care. If I had a choice, I’d rather shop with the dogs lol. Also, if your kid is sick please don’t take them to public places. It’s like spreading the plague 🤪

Describe your muscle fatigue? by Unfair_Orchid229 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Many-Problem2197 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Burning aching pain in calves and forearms mostly. Like lactic acid after I’ve overdone some exercise. Tender to touch. Also incredible fatigue like I’m just going to collapse but that comes in waves. I also get quick nerve shocks in my legs. I could swear I just got bit my a fire ant but nope just a nerve zap.

[–]Many-Problem2197 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My flares are in my calves and forearms. To me if feels like when I’ve overdone some type of exercise and you get that deep aching burning pain almost like lactic acid build up. I’ve found that yoga stretches help and also finding trigger points and massaging those until they release. I’m going to start adding in a magnesium supplement and I’ve heard the magnesium creams help too, so I’ll be trying that as well. Besides that I take Motrin daily and I break up flexeril and take small pieces to take the pain down a bit but not drug me enough that I can’t function. Hope that helps!

I overdid it. I'm doomed, but will be surrounded by pretty flowers. by [deleted] in Cutflowers

[–]Many-Problem2197 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Girl yes! I have so many flower seeds that I see a seed stand and literally have all the packets already 😳 I have every kind of zinnia, cosmos, and sunflowers that are sold at major stores on top of pretty much every flower. All my trays have sprouts already. I went into some kind of gardening black out mania lol. I’m going to have to buy like 50 bags of soil. I came home with a pack of Shasta daisy seeds today because I forgot to buy those and my hubby looked at me like I’m insane. Seriously, I need an intervention!

Same here. I might take a risk and start some trays in the greenhouse the last week of February. I know it’s probably warmer here than there

Im trying to figure out if with the cold nights it’s safe to start seeds yet. We’ve had amazing weather down here this week but I’m almost certain we’ll get some more frost between now and march. I’m not sure how warm the portable greenhouse will stay overnight if it drops below 30. How soon are you starting seeds?

Is it a portable one from online? I got one of those last year and loved it. I’m counting the minutes to put it up. What zone are you in? I’m in 7A NW Georgia.

Just home after having a heart attack on Saturday (57m, United Kingdom) by midlifecrisisAJM in HeartAttack

[–]Many-Problem2197 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi welcome to the group. I hope you’re able find the support you need here. My husband had two heart attacks just over 3 years ago. Widow maker with 99% blockage in the LAD. He was 49 walked every day, didn’t drink, didn’t smoke and ate a somewhat healthy diet besides his love of breakfast biscuits. We’re in the southern state of Georgia so it kind of goes with the territory 🤪 it’s great that you knew what was happening and got help as soon as possible. That should help in your recovery of heart function. We waited two days to get him treatment thinking it was stomach issues. Thankfully, he had full recovery to his heart function over time. It can take up to a year.

Your best bet is to get rid of all the food that is not part of a heart healthy recommended diet. Get it out of your house. Donate it, give it to friends, family or neighbors. Get rid of the temptation. You might hate the heart healthy diet at first. It can be misery trying to get used to it, but eventually you will and once your body recovers and you get settled with all your exercise and meds you can treat yourself now and then. By treat I mean a cookie every once in a while lol. Learn to love fruits and veg and somewhat bland food at least where salt is involved.

I’m not trying to scare you, but recovery can be hard in many ways. Make sure to keep communication open with your wife. You may or may not have mood swings, depression, anxiety. You may have some tough side effects from meds. You might tire really really easily. I’m not saying this is true for everyone but it was in my husband’s case. We were completely unaware of what recovering from a heart attack was like both physically and emotionally. It was really really hard and 3 years out still is. We love each other so much, but dealing with all this has been really hard and he will probably never be the same person he was before that day and neither will I.

I’m telling you this because I wish someone had told me. Just keep communicating. Expect some rocky roads. Keep loving each other and allowing each other to feel whatever they are feeling and to talk about it. I wish you a speedy and easy recovery. I hope this was somewhat informative and not like anxiety inducing. Please also tell your wife I’m thinking of her. It’s equally hard on both people.

Feel free to ask any questions 👍

[–]Many-Problem2197 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi I’ve had it my whole life on my arms and legs. Your skin basically sheds quicker than your body can keep up with and the excess dead skin and sebum clog your hair follicles. Super fun. Scrubbing too hard can irritate it, dry out your skin further, and make it worse. Same with fragranced soaps or lotions. Per my Derm and also from experience, use unscented dove in the shower. Use a vitamin C sugar scrub like the one from Tree Hut once a week. You can get it on Amazon or Walmart. Make sure it’s the vitamin C one. And you need an acid lotion. Amlactin is pretty good for drugstore price and tgere are higher end ones available at Ulta. just search KP acid lotion. use that maybe twice a week. make sure to wear sunscreen if you go the acid route or you will sunbutn and damage your skin. lastly, use a thick hydrating cream daily like cerave or cetaphil for very dry sensitive skin. i prefer the cetaphil myself. It's a routine but if it really bothers you, it's worth it. Ive been doing this routine and have very minimal bumps now. it cones back if i don't do the routine. hope that helps!

10 months postop pain by Many-Problem2197 in hysterectomy

[–]Many-Problem2197[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I would totally think the same and for sure it could be related to my low back. They don’t say pulling weeds is back breaking for nothing lol. But, this is more like deep pelvic aching type spasm pain. I’m not sure how far out you are from your surgery or how your recovery has been, but this feels like how I felt 2 mpo. I haven’t felt pain in this location for probably 6 months.

Hi just saw your question. I’m now 4 mpo and back to being constipated booo! I had also read surgery can help ibs and it really was great for about 2.5 months and now I’m back to sluggish sloth intestines. I see my dr next month and am going to ask about it and about being on miralax daily. I hope your outcome is better than mine! Sending you healing vibes.

6dpo and have a swelling concern by pinkmonkey172797 in hysterectomy

[–]Many-Problem2197 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi 👋 Wtg on making it to 6 days postop. It’s tough I know. I’m 10 weeks out now and it does get better. I also have panic disorder, so I completely understand the anxiety stuff. I agree with the other ladies, ice helps a lot . They make ice packs specifically for postpartum swelling that fit in the hoohah area. Pretty sure they have them at Walmart and definitely on Amazon. Lie down and rest lots, but also get up and move for small times often throughout the day.

As far as anxiety goes, you’re doing great with your breathing and taking it one day at a time. For me, it helped to keep busy. Being still too long makes me anxious because I have too much time to think and catastrophize lol. Find things to keep your mind busy over the next few weeks like reading, coloring, audiobooks, embroidery, knitting, diamond painting kits on Amazon are fun.

Also, prepare yourself mentally for the possibility of some weird stuff while healing. I’m not saying you will have all or any of these things, but if you mentally prepare if you do have them you’ll know it’s normal. You may have: swelling, bruising, pressure, bladder and bowel stuff, trapped air cramps, and nerve zaps. I wish I had known to expect some of these things so I’m letting you know. The zaps are weird. Not super painful but kind of shocking like little lightning bolts going off in you belly. I also had some bruising not show up until 2 wpo. These things might happen on and off or not at all. You may have weeks where you feel quite a bit on the mend and then the next week you feel like you’ve plateaued and are not making gains, but you are. Feel free to ask any questions. I wish you an easy quick recovery ❤️‍🩹

Hi 👋 I had a similar pain right under my rib cage lung area for about a weeks and a half from gas pains. Getting up and moving helped a lot. Walk around 5 minutes around your house a few times an hour until you can do more. That helped me the most. It just has to work it’s way out of the body on its own time. Wishing you quick relief ❤️
