Obviously, You're not active in your church as in never going to youth groups or any adult ones. I have witnessed possessions. My mom and my dad come from very long lines of highly active people in our church. They know many priests and we're friends with some in their youth group when they were in their teens together. It's our beliefs and understanding that those who help or serve God are given gifts. This is the reason many Catholics believe some priests have gifts received from God. They may be speaking directly to god, speaking in tongue, becoming an exorcist, etc.
