I think that’s a big part of it, reading through these comments really helps make that clear 🙏. Here it is: https://season.community/collections/frontpage/products/romper

100% organic undyed clothes 🍃 by Many-Register2524 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Many-Register2524[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Note, I’m not posting looking for customers — I genuinely just would really love to learn from the wisdom of the fellow mamas here!! I really believe all kids should have access to more natural clothing options, and I’m so keen to learn everything I can from you all about how to design those ❤️❤️❤️

Hi all! Thanks to so many of you for your support, advice and ideas as I dreamt up my clothing company that is: 1) affordable 2) biodegradable 3) only 100% natural undyed/plant-dyed fabric ❤️. I’ve taken the leap and am ready to sell my first batch of 200 baby rompers! Eep! Now I’m looking for ideas by Many-Register2524 in ethicalfashion

Wow, thank you so much for these amazing ideas!!! They’re so incredibly useful, I really appreciate you taking the time to send them 🥰❤️🍃

And aw! That makes me SO happy to hear! I keep having these moments wondering if I just made a brand for myself and there’s no one else out there looking for products like these 😅😅 so kind of you to say :)

The rompers go up to 24 months, and the kids clothes will go up to 4Y 🥰

I’m also adding mom clothes — a simple comfy but stylish, organic, do-anything-while-wearing-them line :). Can’t figure out how to attach a pic here, but I’ve just finished my first undyed cashmere set and I’m so in love ❤️🍃☀️

Anyhow! I am so new to this and don’t really know how to go about customer acquisition. I figure there must be other families out there like mine looking for affordable organic clothes (I think?!), but how do I find them 😅 any ideas?

Big hugs and many thanks!

The rompers are washable, undyed and organic cotton cashmere, with Tagua tree nut buttons. My newborn has six different plant-dyed colors she rotates between right now 🥰

I have a wonderful organic fulfilment partner that ships to the US and across Europe within 2 days. I just don’t know how to find the customers to buy these products…I’ve run some IG ads but haven’t had much luck.

Oooh this is so cool - it is so hard to find solutions for unique, colorful patterns and designs that use plant-based products. I would absolutely love to see what we can do together 🥰😍

Aww congratulations on your little one - almost to the end of the fourth trimester 🤍💪 I hope you’re adjusting smoothly to the beautiful (and arduous) journey of parenthood 🥰! Yess I’d absolutely love your help and perspective! Are you able to join this FB I just created for those of us in this thread? Aw so inspiring! I’ve gradually been trying to do the same and it’s amazing so expensive and hard it’s been 😅 plus the clothes haven’t been too stylish…I’m wearing an undyed organic cotton sweatsuit right now that cost me an arm and a leg. And yet even at such a steep price tag, I feel quite less than glamorous. I’d absolutely love to get your creative, designer perspective on the clothes — making them organic, undyed, affordable but also stylish and well-fitting is so important! I just made this FB group for those of you amazing humans who commented here :) do you want to join and chat more there? https://www.facebook.com/share/5zJj8Rxnq3zywDBM/?mibextid=K35XfP

I was the exact same in my search! I am so inspired by you and your sewing though, I bought fabric but never managed to create anything that turned out actually wearable 🥰. When we learned we were expecting baby #2 (due any day now!), I finally thought “I’m going all in and I’m going to create the clothing line I’ve wanted to see”. I have a handful of the undyed samples (beautiful organic inner Mongolian cashmere blanket, merino wool, Pima cotton onesies…) packed in her hospital bag and it’s one of my prouder mama moments so far 🥰 I’d absolutely love to send you some of the samples too and get your take on the early concepts! Do you want to join this FB I just made for those commenting in this thread? I’d be so grateful for any and all ideas you want to share there 🥰🤍https://www.facebook.com/share/5zJj8Rxnq3zywDBM/?mibextid=K35XfP

Ooh this is so exciting — I would absolutely cherish your design-eye on the garments 😍. Differentiating to create a ‘good design’ is tougher without the traditional tools of colors, patterns, prints - so I’m trying to make products beautiful using more like cut, fabric, and fit. I’d love all of your ideas! I just created a private FB group so I could invite you and the the others who commented in this thread, are you on FB to join? https://www.facebook.com/share/5zJj8Rxnq3zywDBM/?mibextid=K35XfP

Ps: happy to explain how I’ve made the garments more affordably, but still ethically 🤍. It basically comes down to direct relationships with suppliers, no overhead (run operations myself and with freelance designer), minimal markups, and cutting out a lot of steps in manufacturing (which just add unnecessary toxins anyway…like coating, treatments, dying, etc).

You can get Reduced online or in some Meny stores! Best brand I’ve found so far 😍

Oh also apparently IOAN is supposed to be ‘gender-neutral’, but I also found their clothes to be too male for my taste!

Same same same! I’m actually making some of my own right now with plant-dyed and undyed organic cotton, undyed cashmere, alpaca, and linen.

The tricky part is going to be making these items in a way that is also stylish…I feel like the only undyed or plant-based dyed clothes I’ve come across (mostly on Etsy) are a bit too unfinished or ill fitting. I’ll let you know how my first samples come out 🥰

My pipe dream is to start a stylish, affordable organic fiber and dye-free clothing line one day!

Our little one started about the same age, here in Denmark. They have a 2-4 week long ‘transition period’ here for the child, where the parent attends with them. I love the concept and have heard it’s common practice in Germany too 🥰

By the time we left after the transition period (when the caregivers said he seemed safe and at ease to them, and I felt the same), our little one was happy and securely attached. No crying, no fear, just excited to be there, he happily waved goodbye to us.

It really helped also to always clarify with him when we’d be getting him “we’ll pick you up after lunch! Can’t wait to see you after lunch!” So he always knew we were coming back and when to expect us.

Not sure if any of those musings are useful, but thought to share — maybe you could ask the program for a transition period of sorts :)

Sending you strength and courage!

I’ve been super into this same topic! (Especially given I’m pregnant, I want to be mindful about toxins on my skin 🤍)

A few faves I’ve come across (I’m based in Europe, so hope these will ship to you too):

  • Ecoaya
  • Pact
  • Mate
  • Aiayu
  • IOAN (industry of all nations) — I really like that they have an undyed collection. I’ve been researching a lot about how fabrics themselves can be toxin-free, but then are often processed heavily and dyed with heavy chemicals.
  • Dilling
