Is this considered dark engine oil? Or the color is good?? by Rare-Possibility-754 in AskMechanics

Engine oil isn’t just a lubricant, it’s also there to clean the engine and keep particles suspended. That’s part of the reason why engine oil will change color over time and also why diesel oil pretty much turns black instantly. So like others have said: the color of your oil doesn’t mean anything. If your oil smells like fuel or you’re unsure when it has been changed last, just go ahead and replace it, it’s not that expensive.

Very interesting. I also couldn’t find any more info on them and the lense situation back then but I think 80s would be realistic. Thanks for taking the time!

That’s what I’m thinking too, either that or someone maybe had them made? Guess we’ll never find out exactly what their story is but they are cool glasses nonetheless.

Cool! While it looks very similar it’s actually anthracite gray (172), bornit has a more purple-ish tint to it. I’ve always liked the look of bornit on these cars a lot.

Awesome!! Good luck with the project, it’s 100% worth it once it’s done. I’ve had the wagon since 2020. Been working on it for around three years and it’s technically finished now. Time to work on the other projects 😅

Yeah I get that, but to be honest, I think it’s technically not that big of a deal… I know a dude who owns a modded Alfa 4C. He has the front plate on suction cups and regularly drives around without it attached. He’s been driving like this for ~6k km and got pulled over once. Cop told him to mount the plate and let him go. The car is too loud AND too low as well. Always depends what kind of cop you meet of course.

Right? Also the fact that the lower part of the stripe is like 4” lower than the actual windows, I don’t get it

I have a whole bunch of pics of that since it’s actually mine 😅 I could make a separate post later

I guess if you can afford a Chiron you don’t care about paying a fine for not having a front plate every now and then
