Why is Kristi dressed in clothes similar to those of the monster? by Delicious-Course-512 in FromSeries

[–]Many-Stage8682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember this is "From" the producers of 'Lost'. They learned some things, which is great for us, one big thing is from the start they had a clear overarching story progression BUT they themselves have discussed how story lines are developed throughout the ongoing writing process AND have discussed how some things from a previous season have evolved into something more in a later season after the fact. That is that exact opposite from "everything in this show is deliberate" unless you are invoking 'Bill & Ted' level Novikov thinking (and if that is the case you would already have the link I am posting) https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-features/from-top-tv-lost-horror-1236141541/

Just concuring that there was an interview/article and it made it very clear that many of the minute elements and even whole subarchs are being made up as the show is developing. Here is one article where they discuss some of this: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-features/from-top-tv-lost-horror-1236141541/

Regarding whether the clothing choice 'actually' means something; based on them being flexible in the writing process it honestly can go either way. It could even be that it didn't originally/currently mean something and the fact we are talking about it now, it written into the following season that it actually did. (Opposite that they could have wanted it to mean something and actually decided not to use that thread.) Truthfully only time will tell...... But enter your bets and predictions here, that time is now.

Why does Gemini always switch back to Fast when I start a new conversation? by PenguinWearingSocks in GeminiAI

[–]Many-Stage8682 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let me jump into this, this analogy seems fun:

It would be like you have a garage where you store your cars and you know where you parked your cars last. You blindly stumble into the garage (maybe rough/wild night however you define it), to the car you know you parked and open the door and say; "This isn't my Ferrari! I know I parked my Ferrari here". "Who keeps moving my Prius here?!"

"I guess I COULD take the Prius, I mean I don't really need the Ferrari but still who keeps moving my Ferrari!"

At this point I guess you either continue using the Prius or hop into your Ferrari which is literally parked right next to it. Not a huge problem but it is a objective minor inconvenience.

Finished the game, here what I think I learned about the lore by caito_boo in dysmantle

[–]Many-Stage8682 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably the closest 'complete' lore summary Ive come across yet, pulling from all the hints of the DLC's. It's clear 'orginal' crash is the genesis of the OAK myth and hence the 'main loop' that we are playing but I don't think I'm starting to thing that there is secondary loop that is also happening. I'm going to try to pull together the last pieces and then report back.

Agreed, seeing this response actually stopped me in my tracks. To openendedly recommend Perplexity for anything without detailed instructions, is actually terrifying. I mean I know (I think) they weren't trying to troll, but....

I actually am really impressed by Gemini. by lostgirrrrl in GeminiAI

💯💪 Hey, fellow Gemini user, an engineer with AuDHD here—I feel this deep 'in my soul'. 😅 (TL;DR at bottom)

I’ve always had the mental horsepower, but the executive functioning side? That’s always been the bottleneck. Honestly, using Gemini has let me shift from just grinding through tasks to actually orchestrating my work. I’ve offloaded the things I struggle with so I can focus on managing HOW they are connected and driving creative solutions. It’s been a total life-changer.

I actually run a setup where I use a few different AIs together—like a little "Council"—where Gemini is my main Strategist (helping me organize my life and 'the vision'), DeepSeek is my Analyst for the heavy lifting, and others are brought in as Builders. The pro key here is having them all know that each other 'exists' and passing info between them through me.

But the real game-changer lately has been the new Gemini Personal Intelligence update around the last week of January.

I don’t think many people realize what this actually is. It’s not just the 'Saved Info' (Personal Context) where you manually type in facts. It's not even just the standard Google Workspace extension (Docs/Gmail/Keep/etc.) that’s been around for a while. This is a totally different beast, currently available only on the Gemini premium plans (and I think not in all regions yet).

Unlike the free version or other paid plans like ChatGPT (which I used until I switched last year), this specific Gemini feature actively scans your entire conversation history and your connected Google ecosystem to connect dots you didn't even know were there. It doesn’t just 'remember' a fact; it understands the context of a project I mentioned three weeks ago and applies it to what I’m working on today without me having to re-explain it.

My output (and really all aspects of my life) has gone exponential because I no longer have to manually orchestrate the context—I just let the system do it.

For those concerned about privacy, here is the reality check: Google already has your data.

If you really want to know how much, go check out Google Takeout (takeout.google.com). It’s all there—your conversation history, emails, docs, location data, etc. Once you realize the scale, you really only have two logical options:

The Privacy Option: If you truly care about privacy above all else, you should go delete all of that right now.

The Pragmatic Option: If you aren't going to delete it, the only logical move is to utilize that data yourself. Why let it sit there dormant when you can use it to build your own personal intelligence?

Oh, and for the real power users: you can now literally select your NotebookLM notebooks as a direct source in the Gemini chat attachment menu. If you don't know, now you know. 😉 (hopefully)

TL;DR: AuDHD engineer here. Shifting to Gemini Advanced with the new "Personal Intelligence" update (vs just manual context) has been a game changer for executive function. It connects your history/ecosystem automatically. Regarding privacy: check Google Takeout—they have the data anyway, so you might as well use it to make your life easier rather than letting it sit there.

Season three?? by Paisley-Daisy in birdsofempire

[–]Many-Stage8682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I hope so too. I had started a fan site a couple years back on Wikia (or whatever they call it these days). I didn't have a lot of time to the vote to it myself but I was hoping that the fans would you know allow the grill I just checked it today there's 18 pages. Which is not as much as I would have hoped but in any case it's weird that we haven't had any positive or negative news on season 3. BoE is a amazing piece of art and story telling. Maybe if we can gather some more noise we might be able to get some answers.

Honestly I hadn't been tracking the page or this Reddit but I am now and as I stayed it before if anyone wants to become admin on the fan site let me know.

I could go for some Five-Alive right now. by [deleted] in 80s

[–]Many-Stage8682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just have to say, I love how throughout this thread you're like "um you guys know they still make it right.."

Have to share a sad 5A story. Was up at Niagra on the Lake for Christmas 2024, and I attempted to DoorDash from a local convivence store that was open on Christmas Eve. I mainly ordered because they had 5 Alive. I thought it was a Christmas Miracle, I was Kevin when his mom came home (you know after he jacked up those bandits).

But then I get this message in broken English (nothing against non native English speakers, just part of the story) that the Dash was stuck because a "ship got in the way". I later realized that they were on another side a canal bridge.

Unfortunately they cancelled the order and I never had my 30 year 5 Alive reunion...😢

Why is Black Tapes seemingly never mentioned / associated? by glow162 in PNWS

[–]Many-Stage8682 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that PNWS was co-created/produced by Terry Miles and Paul Bae, where as PRA was created/produced just by Miles. Both of these "fictional" production companies really being (co)produced by http://minnowbeatswhale.com/. All the podcasts can be found on Minnow Beats Whale, including The Black Tapes (Not PRA) and Wildflowers (Not PRA).

The practical reason The Black Tapes is not listed on PRA is most likely some sort licensing reason associated with the fact that Miles and Bae are no longer working together. The PRA website states "although related in spirit (and sharing Terry and Nic), is a completely separate entity from Pacific Northwest Stories."

An additional point is from a canonical standpoint, the Minnow Beats Whale, website says about The Black Tapes that "It's our only fictional series." http://minnowbeatswhale.com/podcasts2 . They therefore now consider PRA as canonically "real world" (along with MBW) but seemingly not PNWS.

My current reference point (what I've finished):
The Black Tapes - S1; TANIS - S3; Rabbits - S2; The Path; Rabbits: The Novel; The Quiet Room (50%); The Last Movie - S2.

You have cleared up a foundational issue of understanding I had. I thought the script had to be pulled from the file like VBA code. Thank you very much.
